I notice 8 votes have been cast??? Do people even know what the hell they're voting on...or are they just clicking buttons?

The "question" (if you can call it that) doesn't even make sense, and runs over itself.

I'm gonna start saving up so I can get some talent. Maybe get one of these:

I wonder if they make one with hundreds on it, that would sound even better!!

Not only does money not equal talent. Talent also does not equal money. Welcome to the music industry.

There is another component, heart. I went to school with a set of twins that played basketball. Both were starters, but one was way more talented than the other. The less talented one had a lot more love for the game. Fast forward 25 years and the talented one is working manual labor jobs and barley getting by, the other played ball through Collage and is now a collage coach and making a nice living. A lot of people have talent and expect to get what they want without putting in the work, while a less talented person who is willing to work hard will succeed.

Welcome to the real world. 8)
(Not trying to be a smart $@!)

I don't really know if that's true. There are plenty of talented, hard working musicians who lived destitute lives while the industry pushes mediocre talent into the spotlight with auto tuned vocals, backing tracks, and every other modern contrivance. Let's not kid ourselves. You can work your $@! off, have plenty of talent and in the end. If a suit doesn't think you're something they can turn an easy buck off of. You're not going anywhere. I'm not complaining. It is what it is. Everyone makes their own choices and has to live with them. I'm just pointing out that high end gear, talent or even hard work does not equal money in the music business. It hasn't since people who produce nothing have controlled the means of distribution.

While the internet has changed much of that in regards to being able to get your music heard around the world. The reality is that the vast majority of the population consumes their art from corporate media. Therefore the industry does not need to control all means of distribution. It just needs to control those it uses it's influence to deem "legitimate" to the average person. Hence, things like "American Idol". Where people who have worked for years making legitimately great music run to the industry along side people who have maybe one of the above traits. Sometimes not even that. Yet they are turned away. The fact that they show up at all only serves to legitimize the corporate media that has destroyed the value of the art of music and has hurt them. Like I said, I'm not complaining. Just stating a fact.

Money does not equal talent. Talent does not equal money. Hard work doesn't equal money, either. If it did then guys who break their back all day would be making millions of dollars while people who push papers would be making scraps. To believe otherwise is foolish. Hard work, Talent, and good gear is the idea situation to have. However, even someone with all of these could spend their lives toiling away for the door in dive bars. If you're making music to get rich. Then you'd be playing the same odds and saving yourself a ton of time by selling all your gear and heading to Vegas.
