Hello Fellow Musicians;
Just want to pass along some good news I had from my doctor visit this past Thursday. He has taken me off light duty at work,and best part is,...I was finally able to ditch the wrist brace,...my wrist is healing real well,though I still have just a little soreness from muscles that have not been used in quite a while. I did have PT,and that went well. I don't want to overdo it at first,but I think the BEST PT will be to start playing again. Scales may not always be the most fun thing to practice,but after what I have been through with my wrist and all,...breaking it,the surgery,etc,...going through some scales might just be a good idea to work back into playing after a four month hiatus due to my injury. So,...let's get the Strat back out,fire up the Champion 20,..Hot Rod,..or Bassman amp,and go to it.

Good to heart your on the mend. Go slow and steady to start with. Build it up gradually or you will pay for it down the road. Well wishes, Dewey take care.

Practice is always good. But do listen to your body and not just the amp, and take breaks a little more often than you think you need to. And don't be afraid to use a capo to make it a bit shorter scale for initial practice.
But it'll be good to just hold the guitar and make sound again, I bet!

Good for you! Take the next 6 months and build up stronger than it was before. That's the best way to overcome surgery. It's not easy, but it's worth it.

That's great news,I know first hand how vital hand and wrist exercises and stretches are, not only to the healing process but they should be an important of every guitarists playing regimen.Moderation is the key to a successful recovery,a lot of people play or exercise and stop as soon as the pain begins,by then its too late and you may have done more harm than good.As frustrating as it may be,you have to stop before pain stops you and that's the secret of a successful recovery.Lots of luck for a complete recovery.

Good to hear! I also have first hand experience! Torn bicep/surgery/rehab/blah, blah.
BUT great to have the motivation of musical talent to get you working it and stretching it trying to get it to bend into all those weird positions! It was a great motivator for me and I'm sure it will be for you as well.
Best!

Peace,
Gridlok

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.
