Do you use the Tremolo at all? Or did you take it off and throw it as far into a corn field or lake as you can like I do with all lower end guitars?

Blocking or strengthening your bridge plate with more springs MIGHT help, of course, the tuners have to be willing to cooperate as well.

As far as the trem is concerned , I tightened it up all the way because I never use it.

I found out last night that the nut needed some lubrication on it and that also, the bridge saddles needed to be adjusted a bit more. Once I did those two chores , my tuning issues seemed to have vanished . It's now staying in tune just fine with no issues at all.

Jeffro,

The machine-heads on those Squires are sometime not so good.

Are the neck screws good and tight?

The tuners are fine. The problem was that the bridge saddles needed to be adjusted a bit more properly. I'm probably going to invest in some Graph-tech Import saddles this week for it anyway. I've used them in the past on some Squier Standard Strats I used to have and they do a great job of keeping the guitar in tune.

Not true. That only affects the 'value' of the guitar.

Easy there, he was only kidding when he posted that.
I also discovered today that the previous owner, had tightened all of the screws down at the bridge which is a vintage style 6 point one. That had a lot to do with my tuning issues as well. Only the screws on the edges are to be tightened all the way while the 4 that are in the middle, are just to be set so they are holding the trem in place. I ended up having to redo the intonation which was a big help as well. Now it's staying in tune with no issues at all. The stock tuners are fine and I don't have to replace the bridge saddles either. It's all good now.
