Non Fender New Guitar Day
I've learned about these open book headstock, korean epis just recently. I really like the headstock and the fact that it was used only for a year in 89 for the standards and customs gives them a bit of mystique.
So when I saw one on "craigslust", I went after it and got it for 250.
There still are some deals out there :)
It's in really good condition for its 25 years and plays and sounds great. The previous owner put duncans in, jazz in neck and jb in the bridge, and it sounds solid.
Great guitars

Nice, congrats. The Koreans make some real nice guitars.

They look like the new ’61 Zebra Humbucker's that come stock on the 2014 Gibson SG Junior.

Thanks guys, was a good deal but the thing is the guitar is way above expectations, so it's a keeper. I'm high as a kite about it. :D

I did some research about them before I saw this one, so I kinda knew what I was getting. There is one on reverb for 550, and one sold for 450 so I got it just for that and the odd headstock, which I'm fascinated about

After some more research looks like they sold around the 450-500 range lately on reverb and ebay so if anybody sees one for cheap, snatch it up, they are really worth it, quality-wise too.
https://reverb.com/item/29091-epiphone- ... neck-tenon

I know exactly how the guy who sold it felt. I tried to sell my PRS Se for a few months and all I got was low-ball offers and uninterest, so I was ready to give it away cheap, then I realized that it's just not worth it. I rather have it collect dust than give it away almost free, maybe I'll give it to one of my nephews when the get to the age or something like that.
Looks like this is the way to score good deals on Craigslist nowadays, from jaded sellers who just want to get rid of it, because they been trying for a long time and nobody is buying at decent prices anymore.

In that picture the guitar had Seymour Duncans in it. Forget which ones, exactly. Jazz, possibly. I think I was trying something out of the ordinary. I have long since swapped those out. I tried a number of combinations in that guitar before I finally settled on a very old school combination that has worked well for me in the past and still kicks serious butt. DiMarzio Super Distortion at the bridge and Humbucker From Hell at the neck. I'm all about going with what works. Sometimes that means using something new. Sometimes it means going old school. I try lots of things all the time (particularly pedals but pickups, too) but there are a few things I keep going back to. This combo has never let me down. They're still zebras.

Model? I dunno. Epi LP. It's Korean and I like it. At least, I like it now that I swapped out all the iffy bits. That's about all I know about it. I ain't selling it. I've sold Gibbys and kept this one. It just works.

It might be the same model as yours, actually. I removed both guards. If you look closely you can still see the screw holes. Nobody notices the holes, though, until they examine it closely.

Yeah I haven't seen the hole until you pointed it out. :)
I'll keep in mind that combination of pickups, for now the jazz and jb sound good to my ears, I dont feel like meddling with the pickups, which is a great.
Down the line who knows, but I'm actually listening to youtube to a guy with the HumfromHell pickups and it sounds great.
Does yours have a really slim neck too? This one is almost too thin, and for the first minute is a bit unusual, but I have short fingers so I shouldn't complain.

Mine feels similar to a normal modern Gibson.

I have a Traditional Les Paul with the 60's neck and it's thinner than that, but only around the nut.
Looks like on right behind the nut where the headstock starts to angle, it's more carved out than the gibby, which is more angled and not as round.
It's interesting but not a bad thing.
