I just picked up this Blueshawk and wondering if anyone else around here has one. It's actually a pretty nice guitar, plays great, some of the finish has lifted but I could care less about that. I know these blues 90's pickups aren't really P90's and they seem a little weak, thinking of swapping them out. I'll have to work around the dummy (hum cancelling) coil. Maybe someone here has already tried this? I will say that it's kind of nice to turn up my PR to 6-7 to get a similar volume as my other guitars on 4-5.

Thanks,

UN

Quite a hybrid. I'm not sure I knew they existed. What are the controls? Is it master volume and two tones w/ a 3 way? Interesting combo.

It's actually a volume, tone and the chicken head selector is a Varitone. Pickup selector is a 3 way. The Varitone can be de-activated by the tone pot via push-pull.

Nice score. IIRC the pickups were P100s, but I think a set of P90s will drop right in. Enjoy the "New" guitar.

Congrats-that's just the quirky kind of guitar that I go for,I'm not familiar with that brand though, which makes it even more desirable for me.I don't know if I'd swap out the standard pickups that are on her though, with the Variac type multi tonal possibilities, I would imagine that she would sound great as is.I just have this thing about unique guitars, unless the pickups are absolute junk,I always leave them as is just to add to the uniqueness of it adding common pickups just makes it sound more like most other guitars.

Congratulations UN ! I wiki'd that guitar and it has a for real scale unlike most Gibby's. I prefer the longer scale of most Fender guitars and not dissing the shorter scale. Have fun playing your new Blueshawk ! :D

I had one of those for a while in a dark brown color and I am pretty sure that the pickup, knobs, etc. were in a slightly different configuration. I liked it a lot, but a friend of mine talked me out of it and then the sucker sold it without telling me first - I'd have bought it back, dang it!
