I just scored this one last night . It only cost me $100.00 which I bought on Craig's List. It's a 2002 Squier Affinity which has been modded. the pickups are from a 2005 MIM Standard and the pots have been changed from the standard 500K which squire uses to those of , Fender 250's along with some Orange drop caps also. It sounds great and has a nice vintage look to it. The only thing I'm going to do to it, is to get a 3 ply, White Pearloid Pick guard. Other than that , I'm not touching anything else on it. Hell, it even came with a hard shell strat case too. Helluva deal for the price.

Very nice! I would change those tuners and tremolo as well. Makes a big difference in sustain and tuning stability.

Actually it stays in tune quite well. I set it up last night after I got it and it's just fine. A lot of folks give these grief only because IMO, they don't take the time to have them set up properly.

Cool stuff man. Squiers are known for coming with crappy tuners and bridges (I know mine did). But yeah the case alone should be worth the 100 bucks! Score!

Good catch!

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

I would say that the Bullet series are pretty horrible but IMO, the Affinity series on, are all pretty decent guitars for the buck. Especially the newer models that have been coming out of their China factory since around 2012 or so, have really been great stuff which stores like Guitar Center, have trouble keeping in stock. At least the ones in my area anyway.

I never cared for the single ply pickguard look. I just ordered a 3 ply WBW one on E-Bay yesterday from China for only 8 bucks w/ free shipping. Plus it's shielded as well. I was going to go with a pearloid but decided a more traditional white would look much better. Other than that , I'm not doing anything else to this guitar. The neck is perfect with no edges sticking out and the pickups w/ the 250K Pots sound great !!!! I was playing it all day yesterday and could not put it down.

Congrats Jeff, you certainly struck a bargain there, all these upgrades certainly drove up the actual value of it,plus Olympic White is such a classy colour too.If you want to see pickguards at a really good price, try here: http://www.greasygroove.com I've bought pickguards etc. from these guys and have been really pleased with the quality-plus they have designs and patterns that no one else has.
