Well this past Thursday I saw Stevie Wonder at Madison Square Garden, NY for the first time, he was absolutely fantastic with a 21 piece band of top notch musicians, and that didn't include India.Arie, harmonica blazer Frédéric Yonnet and the string section in the shadows of stage right.
He was doing the "Songs in the Key of Life" in it's entirety, 38 years after it was released and than an encore of "Superstition." There were lighthearted moments, such as when Wonder confessed to a flub mid-song — "I forgot my own words," he said, laughing early on, played the wrong harmonica for a moment, sang just enough sour notes to show that he’s human and suffered numerous microphone glitches. first show of the 11 city tour. He also said “I challenge America, I challenge the world, to let hatred go, to let racism go. To respect every single man as if they were your brother, every woman as if they were your sister, every single child as if they were your child.” He continued, “This is the only way we will win as a nation, as a world.”
The show started on time 8:00 ended (with intermission) at 11:45 he played longer versions of the songs, which I particularly like when bands jam out there songs, rather than note for note off the album. I have to admit this is one of my top concerts of all time.

Stevie always holds a special place place for me. Truly, one of a kind. The first 45 single I ever bought was Fingertips. I wore that out on my sisters turntable. Of course, he was "Little Stevie Wonder" then. Not so much now. :D

Good for you mud! Cool story, very old school set, you liked it, shows your age, maybe not in years but state of mind, that is a very good sign. :D 8)
