More power to Plant for not wanting to do the shows just for the money! It just shows it's not about the money for him it's about the performance. I wish more artists were like him.
It is a shame we won't be seeing them again but how much would the tickets have been if the band was going to get paid that much, $400 for bleacher seats, $1000+ for floor seats?

You must be American, because you seem to think that more money is a goal in itself.
Robert Plant isn't an American. Thank goodness.

Page, Jones and Bonham must be closet Americans I suppose then.

who knew.

I don't suppose anybody has taken into account that it might just have nothing to do with money or country of origin.

I mean really. A conversation about Zeppelin turns into a trash talk session about national identities? Are we that insecure?

How about the fact that in their minds it's already been done?
Doesn't anybody remember No Quarter?
Why would they want to take two steps backward?

Just sayin'.

Precisely,

Led Zeppelin is/was great. I really couldn’t care less if they toured. I probably couldn’t afford the ticket if they did come to my area, and I have most of their catalog to go back to if I want to listen. If the other three wanted to do it for whatever reason, that’s their business, if Plant doesn’t well that’s fine too.

Robert Plant is just saving himself the embarrassment.

The music he does as a solo artist, is written for his "now" voice...and even if he throws in a Zeppelin tune live, he can and does keep the octaves and tones to a comfortable level, and is not questioned about it---because it is Plant, not Zeppelin.

Don't get me wrong...I am not (nor could I ever) putting Plant or Zeppelin down.
Led Zeppelin will ALWAYS be in my top five (regardless of who has come along, or will come along)...and I love each surviving member on their own as well. Just telling you what I believe is going through Robert Plant's head.

P.S.- I am 47 years old...and in my life time, and in my opinion, there has never been a drummer (living or dead) that even comes close to John Henry Bohnam---Chris Slade of The Firm came close, but no cigar. Powerful, and un-stoppable.

While Bonzo was an amazing drummer at the time, there's just countless of drummers today that would give him a run for his money.

Neil Peart another challenger.

Good. If there's one band I could easily go the rest of my life without hearing again and not miss it. It's Zeppelin. It's bad enough there are tons of radio stations that still play it "every hour, on the hour!" and they love to "get the Led out!". While I may not be a fan of their work. I dig JPJ and his more recent work on a single coil precision. Also, I can respect Plant's decision to turn it down. Sometimes it's better to let a work stand on it's own. Why go back and revisit it if there is nothing more to say?

Dear NON Drummer guys making comments about Bonham- The point is not wether any drummer could give Bonham a run for his money. The point is Bonham was the originator of a lot of the drum licks he played. He did them first. He did them in context with the music he played. He wasn't a super Jazz drummer. He was the drummer for Led Zep .... The guy who wrote drum parts like a great guitarist writes lead licks. That is what made him great. Plus he would kick your $@! if you messed with him.

You know.....I went to 'The Mirror' web site....and the story was not in its' archives, nor was an apology. If we are to believe the story (and/or source) in the link to COS...I think The Mirror owes its' readers an apology.

I heard the story on the radio...and though the talk show hosts did not mention THEIR source...their story was exactly what the COS claimed The Mirror reported.

The Inquisitr quoted Ultimate Classic Rock, who quoted New York Times "page 6", who quoted Forbes Magazine.

I guess we don't know what to listen to, what to read, and what to believe any more.
People are in such a 'mad dash for cash', they'll say anything to sell papers, magazines, and ad space on the radio & t.v.
FRUSTRATING!!!

Blame Rupert Murdoch. That's right, a single man. He got rid of the positions of copyeditors and most of the desk, in order to save money and churn out articles faster. With no oversight over journalists and their ability to do actual journalism like checking sources, and with actual incentives to not commit time consuming acts of journalism, guess what happened? Other newspapers followed suit, because people bought the freshest news, no matter how inaccurate.
Today with Internet, it's far worse, where most "journalism" is copypasta and translatia.

To get actual news, you have to seek out one of the few journalists left on the planet that commit themselves to doing actual journalism. Those are few and far between.
