Just swinging by after taking a break for a while. How's things over here? I see the same threads on the front page still so I guess not much has changed LOL!

I kept playing guitar but not as much, and the end result is that I'm not any better now than I was a year ago, but lately I got bit by the guitar bug again. Put some pickups in my strat and she now sounds like a completely different guitar. So that obviously has motivated me to start playing seriously again.

Also this year I made some better lifestyle choices and it led me to lose 45 pounds and feel like I'm 25 at 39 years old. Good stuff. :)

Anyway glad to be back!

Well after losing that much weight and getting strings back under your fingertips,
we'll be watching you ride the momentum.

What pickups did you put in?
"Completely different"?... You like?

Great to hear!

I managed to go from 280 to 230 this year. I want to be an even 200 eventually. I'd look and feel weird any lower.

Thanks guys! The pickups are Navarro Pickups (my uncle) that he name "Ulrich Attack" named after Uli Roth's tone. The pickups are SSS that measure 16k ohms on the bridge and 10k on the middle and neck. The set came pre wired with new pots, 5-way switch and a toggle switch for the bridge and middle "humbucker" mod. Here's some pics and video.

And this is NOT me playing! Gear used was a Cameron head through Marshall 4x12 cab, Fender super reverb, and a Mesa Boogie head that also escapes my head. It's an insane rig.

I kinda miss the Gilmourish look, but all I need to do is install the white covers again.

And second video, more cleans less shredding.

Sounds like a trend around here. I went from 225 to 170 this year and some people I haven't seen for a while wondered if I got cancer or something.

The bad news is most of the time and effort of getting back into shape came out of my guitar playing time. :( Working on reversing that now.

Thanks and much congrats to you and Buxom on the weight loss! I got into Jiu Jitsu and that's how I lost the weight. From 230 to 185 right now. Problem is that guitar playing took a back seat in the process. 8)

I've gained more than two stones the last year. Which probably isn't all bad, although more of it could have been muscle and not just flab. I blame vasodilators and steroids. My being lazy and enjoying my otium has absolutely nothing to do with it, no siree.

Welcome back!

After a 3 week rehab and a long year of financial ups and downs, I've quit using heroin! Bought a great 2000 Standard Jazz as a gift to myself in the process.

Thanks and congrats to you guys.

Ineedto: I've sized you up in that Jiu Jitsu pic, and I'm pretty sure I could kick your butt.

Thanks a lot man! Going to make a more thorough demo with drier amp settings to capture the real tone of the pickups!
