Also, I don't think there were any left handed people in 54 other than Jimi and he played a righty flipped over. All the other people that appeared left handed were actually playing in a mirror because they had stage/camera fright.

Left-handed people once roamed this land in great herds.

That depends. Has it been reliced? If so, no.

10% of us are leftys. Til we go to school, then some try and beat it out of us. Then later, guitar makers have a crack as well. Be a pretty big luxury if Fender made 10% of their range in left. Be less leftys trying to learn right, or not at all.

Those darned wandering herds of lefties were responsible for the killing off of all the buffalo and the once thriving unicorn populations too.

Making left-handed models means re-tooling factory cells. And that cost has to be absorbed by the number of left-handed guitars sold. Would you be willing to pay 30% more for a left-handed model? That Fender sells the left-handed models they do make at no significant price increase, despite significantly fewer units sold, tells me that dextrous people already subsidize the sinister.

Create a demand and be willing to pay the price, and the manufacturers will produce more.

No they won't. US buyers are the only ones who could create such a demand, and many complain about US prices as it is, despite still being the lowest in the world. Leftys aren't going to pay 30% more… Especially when in many countries any guitar player is already paying double US prices.

The market is already there, extrapolate the population and you've up to 10% of guitar players who are lefty. It's just not being addressed, simply because they're not available to try. See how many RH guitars Fender would sell if you had to order everything and not play it first. Fender can probably cover the small labour costs with extra sales, and 'encouraging' retailers to stock them (like they do with their order quotas) if they only bothered, as they lose many leftys sales by not doing so.

An example of Fender complete disregard for leftys though, is I recently bought a LH Tele and they made it with RH pots. Any tech will tell you your controls then won't taper, you're left with an on/off switch. Fender refused to acknowledge a problem, saying that's the current spec, so it's in spec and they wouldn't warranty any rewiring or new pots (i.e. they probably were out of stock of LH pots).

I took it back and got a non fender guitar.
