Fender Admin authorities, imho, you shouldn't lock threads discussing Fender ownership or buy outs. Plenty of us are interested in these topics. Anyone who isn't interested, doesn't need to read them. In a perfect world, I think the Forum Admin would be more aggressive at shutting down flame mails, obscene names and the occasional kids who go a little crazy, but let financial discussions go. In addition to Fender ownership, the debates about Fender's made in Mexico gear have been interesting to many of us who may meet the income/asset demographic of people who actually buy stuff.

I didn't mind the thread. I found it to be an interesting "what if" discussion.

What bugs me is that a thread about G&L Guitars was shut down pretty quick, whille other discussions about Epiphone and Danelectro are, in fact, still open. At least the G&L thread had something to do with our beloved Leo.

Yeah, it's bizarre. All kinds of garbage is posted all the time about this and that - basically spam. Fender gear costs a few bucks and people who buy it may be interested in ownership and control issues. We'd all like to be full-time rock stars but many of us have jobs and/or investment businesses. If we want to talk about Fender buying G &L, or Fender going public or getting bought out, how's that a problem? Forum Admins should keep order, not censor substantive discussions. I like this Forum and I'm hoping it will evolve in a better direction and that's why I posted this topic. So far, it hasn't bee locked or taken down.

I can see why Brad locked it. I didn't quite phrase the whole thing as I intended it was a little confusing. I should have posted it as a poll.

The thread became a "head scratcher" in my book when it transitioned from a meaningful, thought-provoking convo into an online advertisement for Berkshire Hathaway. The thread is certainly not offensive in any way, and I'll go ahead and unlock it ... but in exchange let's get the convo back on track.

Brad, that's personally directed at my two statements. I'm not on the staff of Berkshire Hathaway and receive no compensation from them. I'm not selling anything. In discussing possibly ownership structures for Fender, I simply passed on my observation that a company I'm familiar with intimately would be a great fit for Fender if the need arises. I happen to be somebody who uses Fender products pretty much every day, and I appreciate the quality musical instruments I've gotten from Fender, and the value Fender products give for the dollar. I'm also worried about the economy like a lot of other people. So, that's why I mentioned the possibility that Berkshire Hathaway would be interested in Fender, if Fender were interested in them. Honestly, I'm puzzled and will never understand why that caused you any concern, and thanks all the same for unlocking the thread.
