I need help I've got a fender mustang it was left to me by my uncle.
The first thing I need help with is finding vintage internals because the guitar is gutted and has no electronics (pickups, pots, and ect.) the other thing is the neck is marked April 68 and below the is stamped custom. I would like to know why the neck was stamped custom

it's my understanding that in the early years, the standard Mustang was 24" scale length, but a short scale 22.5" was available on request, and became the most popular one. In the old days, you could also custom order a different choice of nut width, so that may be the reason for the Custom stamp.

1: Is the body a slab body, i.e. without contours?
2: What is the stated scale length? (Measure the distance from the nut to the 12th fret, and multiply by two)
3: 21 or 22 frets?
4: What's the nut width?
5: Pictures.

It's too bad it has been gutted, because an all original Mustang from back then can be quite valuable. With replacement parts, not so much. Finding original vintage parts could cost you more than the guitar is worth, but if you want to keep it forever for sentimental values that may not matter. Google is your friend here.

Hope you can find some parts that won't cost you too much.

Mustangs are cool.
