I have been a Gibson user for 20 Years. I've seen many a Fender on stage but never played one myself until recently. I started with accoustic 6 and 12 strings and then deceided to try out Strat, so I purchased an American Standard Sienna Sunburt. I was completely blown away with the sound, tone and versitility of this new wonder in my life........ Absolutely great sound.

Good choice. I've looked at the American Standard. And the Sienna Sunburst is my favorite of all the Fender colors. I play with a friend who is a hard core Gibson owner. He always complains about the high frets on his ES-33, and how he loves the action and feel of my strat.......but he's stubborn and won't make the switch.

I like both Gibsons and Fenders. Both companies have great sounding guitars. But if I were stranded on a deserted island and could have only one guitar it would be a Fender Stratocaster, hands down.

I just sold my Les Paul the other day. I liked it, but I never really played it. I always grab my strat or for a different tone, my p90 epi dot. It just sat there unplayed almost all the time. So I sold it and I'll get me some more studio gear instead.

I have been playing Gibson electrics for about 50 years in archtop hollowbody, semi-hollow, and LP forms. I love 'em and their sound (but not the weight of the LP).

Since the mid-90's I have also taken to playing a MIM Standard Strat and more recently a Squire '51. I am really impressed with the Strat's comfort and playability, and the '51 is a lot of fun. I haven't found my "sound" yet in the Strat but I'm going to keep looking 'cause I know it's there somewhere. I may have to try putting 10's on it. I also want to give a Tele a try. This forum has taught me a lot about Fender products and it has made this old Gibson guy a believer. :)

 Stop the war between Fender and Gibson!
Question of kind of sound...
If you prefer bolt on neck and single coil or glued neck and humbucker ...

a les paul can never compare to a strat
in the tone/feel/playability area.
