This has been a favourite of mine for a long time and it sounds as good today as when I first heard it. A great song to chill with your significant other.

James Brown. James Brown everybody.
Mr. James Brown.

Every Beat Of My Heart

+1 on that Mike. Just goes to show James isn't a one trick pony. Love his instrumentals and I remember the multiple drum kits and massive band which when assembled it looked like several independent groups playing as one.

Then there was this 60s hit (better known from Ray Charles) from Jimmy McGriff.

But, to appease the guitar gods there's Chet's version mostly instrumental which I think will be found permissable in this
case.

Regards.

Wow thank you. I knew the melody of the song but didn´t know the name of it until now.
But the James Brown version is very great, too:

Catchy and a great tune to try and mimic a trumpet sound with your mouth while making pancakes and bacon on a Saturday morning.

I used to play trumpet years ago... those are some tough notes to hit... I think I started to form a goiter from the attempt.

I am pretty sure that I've posted this before. A great band from the 70's. I usually listen to this when I'm thinking of family, friends and loved ones. Missing many of them today.

My music taste is all over the map, and most of the entries that precede this one are to my liking. :)

I wish I could play the guitar as well as others in this Forum; but, alas, there are some benefits to drumming. One is the ability to usually cross over to many other genres, easily. I know, I know that the same, of course can be said for well honed guitarists (especially, those cats in the studio or similar artists). I think, however, drummers are more likely, at least from my association, willing to not grasp only one or two genres in their technique and ability.

At a percussion seminar I attended, the visiting New York pro, who had just returned from an official invite from China, told us that there was a drummer's joke being passed about. It goes something like this: Some guitar pros guard their playing secretively by turning their back to the audience and/or bending back or over and/or crunching their fingies close together so as to make it difficult to decipher. He than went on to say drummers are a giving lot who love to share. Knowing the great and helpful group here, and sharing my time amongst the drums, guitar, and keyboard, I don't totally subscribe to that joke, and, for good reason, I will defend our guitar bros and sisters; however, I have seen the odd occasion where he is right (especially when trying to reach a tone or effect). After all, branded cabinets on stage don't always reflect the truth behind the sound  ) Having said that, percussion music has few barriers with your choice of instrument, and, having experience with kits, marching snares, and timps . . . this is one of my favourite instrumental choices:

Another from the past is this one:

This one was a popular 60s instrumental. Enjoy.:

Cheers!

Heya, SBLS . . . I'm chillin' to your Weather Report tune right now. Thanks, for that (new to me).
