So lots of people have the guitar they miss, but what guitar, or bass, did you pass up and wish you hadn't?

Mine was a 1962 Strat refinished in faded sonic blue. I was at a guitar show in I think PA. A buddy of mine (Chrisguitars.com) was a dealer, and he was selling this wonderful sounding, feeling and looking Strat for a very reasonable price back in 2000. I have purchased a few guitars from him and have been quite happy. Chris is a great guy, who is very fair and respectable.

Mine was a 1960 blonde Esquire, Maple fretboard, white pickguard in immaculate condition (it was then 7 years old )
A mate of mine offered it to me , he took really good care of it (he was the second owner and the first owner an oldish guy hardly played it), the price was only £40, but I just didn't have the cash on me that week . I ended up just £15 short and told hm I'd give that to him the next week and he could keep it till I had the full amount, but he needed the cash for an expensive camera that week
How much would that be worth now?......

This is pretty recent actually, I saw a used Epi Moderne come to a local GC here and you can't relly find these anywhere so until I decided to jump on it it was gone.
It would've been a great acquisition and investment too I think.

A Gibson Firebird, as late as last week. :(
I hope another good one comes up, because, well, how can I feel complete without a Firebird?

One I did purchase but gave away to my best friends little brother when I was it Vietnam. It was a late 50's Stratocaster. He was playing in a band. So sorry, but not sorry, I gave it to him. Memories.

I wish I had bought all those early 70's Strats and Teles nobody wanted when I started playing in the late 80's/early 90's...

As far as a specific instrument, I wish I had bought a '59 sunburst Strat I found for $3000; the guy was desperate for some money (I don't think it was hot, I kinda knew him), but at the time $3000 might have well been $3000000, because I didn't have $300 to spend on anything.

2012 LP Studio TV Yellow. New for $475. Just did not have the funds at the time. 2014 LPJ for $499, had a friend in need and passed on this as well. I'll get one, one of these years. Really wish I had got the yellow one though. Also, one of those Greta amps when they were new for 99 a couple years ago. Among others.

This one's pretty easy. Back in early 2000 , this was a few months after I retired from the Navy, I went to the local Guitar Center here in North Attleboro , Mass. for the very 1st time. I had never heard of GC before and was very surprised when a friend offered to take me there. When I walked in, I thought I had died and gone to heaven. This was way before I knew their practices and how they are today. I had a few hundred bucks that was burning a hole in my pocket and I saw a used Gibson Blueshawk which was selling for only $400.00. I tried it out and thought it sounded great but at that time, I was still in my Metal / Hard Rock phase and decided to go with to go with a Jackson Dinky which had a Floyd Trem on it and was in a killer Blue finish. Needless to say , I hated that Jackson and bought it back a few days later only to find out that the Gibson was sold, so I ended up getting a Midnight Wine MIM Standard Strat instead which wasn't a bad choice at all.

What is it you like about the Firebird? I played a Firebird bass and didn't much care for how unballanced it felt to me. How do they sound?

There are a couple of things I like about the (normal) reverse Firebird.
- Not having much of an upper bout makes it easier to angle the guitar up.
- The one-piece neck-through-body with the bridge and nut attached to the same piece of wood changes how it resonates.

What I don't like is the ugly white pickguard, and the distance from the pickup switch to the volume switches.

As for how they sound, they're resonant, and the mini-buckers do have a bit of "bite" to them. It's a guitar that asks for no more than a good boost/drive pedal and a clean amp.

I don't find the Firebird unbalanced, but then again my "go-to" guitar is an SG, so I may be more used to top-heavy, or it may just be how I sling them.
But I have to admit, I love the ringing Firebird sound. Johnny Winter did some great stuff with his.

I'm gonna add a Tele to my list. I've played them but not owned one. I wish at some point I would have picked up an American Standard Tele. Well, never too late. I guess I'll start saving up!!

Almost pulled the trigger a few year ago on a Squier Classic Vibe Tele Custom. That might quench my thirst.

1984 Westone superstrat with Kahler hardware for $45 in my local thrift shop.

The body was squared off like a Tele with shorter horns like an SG. Really unique, blacked out with red logos and pinstripes.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

Back in the early 90's I found a 57 Gretsch White Falcon at a pawnshop (pre-Ebay, so deals were still to be found.) It was pretty cheap, but I was young and didn't have much money. I didn't have the full amount, so I waited until payday to go back, and it was gone.

It didn't occur to me to try put half down to get it held. Still kicking myself 20 some years later.
