1) A selectable 25w, 50w, 100-watt combo w/ 12” Eminence Legend, 8-ohm speaker.
2) An Ultra-Clean, Single-Channel amp with the following controls: Volume, 5-band EQ (Low, Low/Mid, Mid, Mid/High, High), Reverb.
3) FX Loop Send/Receive, Separate 1/4-inch Line Out and Headset Jacks, External Speaker Out.
4) Solid State Construction, CTS Pots, Authentic Spring Reverb Tank, All-Analog.
5) Birch Ply or molded plastic enclosure.
6) Mexican or USA Made
7) Suggested Retail = ???

The idea is to offer an ultra-clean, one-channel, solid-state amp that takes pedals well, at an affordable price-point. You apply whatever effects you need through the FX loop.

There's no way they can get China to make that for half that price, so it won't happen.
So my answer would have to be no - I will not buy that at $399 with a bundled Bono CD.

I would, but it doesn't exist and won't ever.

I'm thinking you could not get the parts for $125 to put it together.

Welcome to the Forum BlueZee. Interesting idea. A Fender Super Reverb or Fender Twin Reverb amplifier can make an electric guitar sound like it is singing. I would be interested in one of those for sure. They cost a little more than what you are referring to though.

An amp with these features (except for the SS part) would be quite nice, but when Fender-or any other musical instrument manufacturer-can turn out an amp with all of that for $125-Porsche will be turning out the 911 Turbo for $3,000.

$125 still seems realistic, if Fender were to manage production costs.

Regardless, I think it would be cool! I'd buy one, just to check it out.

No, it doesn't. Not even close. Just the speaker element is 2/3 of that cost[*]. To say nothing of a spring reverb tank, equalizer, triple output stages... Not even touching the costs of production in North America.

[*] Even if Fender can buy the elements cheaper in bulk, they still have to sell them at street price to not run business at a loss.

I think $400 would be the least it could go for, and that would be if it were made in China with lower grade components and tolerances. At twice the price you state you'd be completely unrealistic. At $125, you appear to be disconnected from reality.

Say what??? Fender doesn't have to sell anything at street value. What are you talking about???
Corps work deals with suppliers all the time - more you buy/less production cost. That's how it works. I doubt Fender would ever buy just 50K of anything... they would source 1mil+ at a fraction of retail/unit.

Sure USA-made items run more overhead, but USA made items also have a higher satifaction ratio (if quality)- What's the first thing people ask when buying anything electronic? It's, "Where is it made?"

As for the unit:
Be realistic... Why would it push the cost? 2 more EQ values, a decent driver, an FX loop/ 3-outputs... but it's still a single channel/solid-state unit - we're aren’t talking tubes. As for the 100-watt amp.... Why would buiding a 20-watt single output, or a 150-watt 3-output unit push the $ to the ceiling. Are they actually three seperate power/output tranformers, or just tapped? If they are seperate, that would be expensive.
The only real expense would be a birch cab, (triple outputs?) and USA made - now those are expensive, regardless. Name-brand driver, reverb tank, CTS pots, jacks and design time are minimal.

And remember the question: IF Fender offered, would you buy it?
Oh okay, we can increase the retail from $125 to ???... Would that cover all the extras???

Have you looked at the price of birch ply recently?

I wouldn't have a solid state amp at any price.

I don't see the point of this discussion really. Fender aren't going to make that amp, neither is anyone else at that price.

The initial question was simply... If this amplifier were offered by Fender... would anyone buy it?
Frankly, I feel a lot of folks would purchase such an amplifier.
Not everyone wants a Solid State amp... well... there's still a large selection in Tube-Ville for those who only want to go tube.
The reality is that SS amps have come a significant way recently... And IMO... Fender is already leading the way in that department.

The Mustang Series of amps is a perfect example... low price point... well made... dependable... sound incredibly good... versatile... easy to use...
I use one.. have a MIII... it's friggin' amazing. I have been gigging it... It's way easier to control than a Tube Amp in every aspect for live performance... sounds great at ANY volume level... Have not had one problem w/ it... it' dependable. I get the versatility of having 12 separate amp heads in one portable, lightweight combo package.

I used to only use Tube amps and never thought I would go w/ a SS amp EVER... But that's changed... My MIII is a dream come true for me... worth it's weight in gold... and then some. And if the amp that the OP has suggested does one day come into being... I'm sure it would be a sought after amplifier by many.
