That took a while, my Strat was back in two days with stainless steel frets. It's drastic but if it means you keep playing a guitar that you love then it's money well spent.

Plays like new, I think my only gripe is about some of the divots filled in the fretboard. It's a little noticeable, but w/e.

And they're med/jumbos that seem to be just ever so slightly taller than average and maybe a little pear shaped if you ask me.

I somehow got this guita back dirtier than when I initially got it. The neck is sticky as hell. Doing a deep clean this Saturday after work.

You never get a refretted guitar back playing the way it used to. It's worse with a guitar that you've played into the ground then had refretted, I made the mistake of wearing my frets down for 20 years past when they needed dressing. Came back feeling good but different, took a month to get used to it again.

And that's kind of the point. You took it in because it didn't play well anymore.

It's like taking your favourite pair of shoes in for a resole. You put it off until it's overdue, because they're as comfortable as, well, old shoes. And they get back feeling ... not the same. Still, it was worth it.

Unless you're a consumerist who toss them and buy new and cheap. And do the same for guitars.

It played almost perfectly, only had one or two deadspots in the whole neck, yes they were on the G.

It's just that if I continued to play it, it would have gotten to a point where it wouldn't have been able to be repaired, or I would have had to replace the fretboard.

Stainless steel really boosted the highs, I noticed. It seems to be more trebly than before, still rings beautifully.

Indeed, the harder the material in frets, nut and bridge, the less friction, and the clearer sound and longer sustain.
Some use brass nuts, and Gibson even used ceramic saddles on some acoustics to decrease friction at that end.

The main downside is that harder materials are also harder for luthiers to work with.

That's why I dropped my guitar off in august and got it back in october.

No complaints, I can finally get back to actually enjoying playing.
