So, we've just released out 2nd music video, about 4 months after our first one :)

What do you think (song/video)? :)

Cozy Sam?

The lip sync has room for improvement, and I think the song begs for either an intro or solo. But overall not bad at all.

The band's wardrobe is not very classy for such a classy video. Maybe you were doing that for contrast, but it didn't work for me.

Good vocals but the lyrics are a tad repetitive. The song needs a bridge or a break or a turnaround. Something that is missing. Would be a passable B side.

I'm not trying to be mean, just trying to give some constructive criticism. Overall better than lots of stuff that passes for "music" today.

I don't speak Yugoslavian but I gather the song is about teen angst with regard to peer acceptance? Or was it unrequited love? Both are good concepts to build a video on. The video portion was fairly good. I didn't take issue with your state of dress but the singer could have been a little less frumpy.

I really liked the overall sound. The organ filled the song out quite nicely. I also appreciated the fact that you kept the distortion guitar out of the limelight and used it for a thickening agent in the background. Good choice. I assume that was you playing lead guitar? Simple, tasteful. Good choice. The bends felt slightly flat to my ear. You'll improve on that with time. It's a common enough thing.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

Thanks for the feedback guys, appreciate it :D

Arth - you mean the lip syncing of us playing or of the girl in the blue dress singing? Or that scene with just the guitar and the band singing a song, before the girl comes by? And not, it's not Cozy Sam  Seeing how I know probably none of you speak Slovene, I'll post the English version below (yeah, translated the song, but we haven't recorded the English vocals yet).

Dave - Of course, I always appreciate constructive criticism :) As far as the wardrobe goes, yeah it was a contrast thingy and something that also supports the main topic of the song - alienation. That's why we chose to shoot ourselves in a desert-ish scene and with a wardrobe that would suggest we've been there a long time. There was also an aerial shot planned, where the girl would run past the band in that desert-ish scene, but we were running out of light too fast as we were filming the whole day and there was also the issue of the audience which gathered around as we were filming (unfortunately some scenes were unusable because of that :( )
About the bridge, I see your point, yeah. It was meant, originally, but the problem was that that extended the song to about 6-7 minutes. We had to cut it shorter and just tried to retain the most important parts of the story - and the bridge was, as far as story telling goes, something that we could leave out. Having played the song like a thousand times without it, it would feel very weird with it now, but at first, I was very frustrated by having to leave it out

BMW - yes, Slovene is one of the former Yugoslavian languages :) I am very, very glad you got the meaning of the song by watching the music video and hearing the music, but not understanding the lyrics, something I was aiming at :D The video was something I was able to do as a project in university and that was my goal from the beginning :D The song is about alienation which starts with teen angst with regard to peer acceptance and sheer pressure of the world we're living in, until it reaches the point of people being completely distanced from basically anyone and anything that might still 'touch' them, they develop a skin so thick that nothing can penetrate. They will, eventually, try to reach out to the world, in their own way, but most of the time it won't work, they're trapped in the prison they built themselves to protect their feelings and thoughts, but in doing so, they lost themselves and can't find their true essence anymore.
It is a theme that has greatly influenced myself, I drew a lot from my personal experience.
As far as the singer goes.. I agree. In retrospect, that was probably one of the first signs of showing she didn't fit in.. We just wish she would have made that clear sooner. We shot back in June and in August she told us she was quitting the band.

It was me on the lead guitar, yeah :) I agree that the distortion guitar wouldn't fit in well if it was in the limelight in choruses, but the distortion guitar (and along with a rhythm acoustic guitar) in the background - well, I just love how it sounds. The main clean guitar was a Fender Strat through a Twin Reverb :)
The bends are something I have been working on since the recording as they didn't sound quite right to me either, but by then it was already too late. I think I have made some great progress since then, doing some ear training too, but thanks for picking that up :) I didn't know whether I was imagining it or whether I was right :)

Unfortunately I can't read cyrillic, as we write in latin alphabet in Slovenia, so I'll ask for the translation on that one

Anyway, below is also the English version of the lyrics. I hope you like it. Oh, and in case something is written in a very weird way, please let me know, I am not a native English speaker and I always want a native speaker to go over it before we play something live :) Someone already went over this, but still, it doesn't hurt to be thorough :)
I tried to keep the rhyme pattern and the melodic pattern as similar as possible, but telling the same story was the main focus, so some lines may be different from the original, when you read them literally, but they hold same/similar meaning.

Quote:
There are days when you are alone
The people around you are disappearing from sight
They're just an illusion – you are alone
An illusion of your mortality.
Sometimes it's cool
If you are afraid
Sometimes it's OK
To be feeling dead

When you're alone, the world seems bluer in your eyes,
When you're alone, everybody is wearing a disguise.
When you're alone, nothing ever seems so nice
When you're alone, your dying heart is paying the price

People's eyes are piercing through,
The darkness becomes light
Despite walking in the dark
To not be seen you gotta fight.
Your space is shrinking,
They're breaking in,
Everybody's sayin'
»It is not a sin«

When you're alone, the world seems bluer in your eyes,
When you're alone, everybody is wearing a disguise.
When you're alone, nothing ever seems so nice
When you're alone, your dying heart is paying the price
You don't even realize
Your own alienation
Everybody's warning you
About your separation
The voice in your head
Is telling you something
Everybody else
Is screaming their own thing

When you're alone, the world seems bluer in your eyes,
When you're alone, everybody is wearing a disguise.
When you're alone, nothing ever seems so nice
When you're alone, your dying heart is paying the price

You've completed a circle -
Came around –
Again to the start
Of your sound
