Been some time since I have visited the forums, but wanted to let you all know that my wrist is healing nicely and I begin PT this week. Can't believe it has been just a little over two months since I got hurt and had my surgery,...time sure does fly. I have high hopes that PT will do what it is intended to do,and that I will soon be back playing real soon. The titanium plate and seven pins are in my wrist to stay, though! I read the story about Les Paul hurting his arm in a real bad car crash, but yet,he recovered from that and was able to get back to playing guitar! If he can get through that,...which he did,...I can overcome the injury to my wrist and return to playing as well. I HAVE to keep a positive attitude that I WILL do just that! :D

Yes the Les Paul story is remarkable. Many people aren't aware of it. Also Carol Kaye was in a bad car crash in Mexico in which her husband, a jazz band player working at a Mexican resort, was killed and she thought she'd never play again either, but she did! Good luck with the rehab KC9SYJ and welcome back to the forum!

Once you get a little better, you might want to try a powerball. No, not a lottery ticket, and not the ENGL Powerball amp (although it probably wouldn't hurt), but the hand-driven gyro ball-thingy. They can really help strengthening wrist muscles. But check with your doctor/pt first (and your wife, for the ENGL).

For finger strength, Gripmasters are good, but even the lighter ones are probably too hard right now.
For rehab, i don't think anything beats a bucket of dry sand. It will always adjust to how strong your hands are, whether you're weak as a baby or Chuck Norris.

If I remember correctly, the Lynyrd Skynyrd bass player also got his hand chewed up pretty badly in the plane crash that killed half the band, but managed to get back to playing.

Then there are guys who lost fingers, like Jerry Garcia, Tony Iommi and Django Reinhart. Neither considered particularly bad guitar players. :D
In my view, giving up is never an option. You acknowledge the curve balls life throws you, adjust and adapt. Welcome back to playing, KC9SYJ, and go for gold!
