I've recently heard about the fact that radio is cutting out more and more content of the songs they play. I know this has always been the case in that an artist has to conform to the radio, not the other way around. I was wondering if there is a market for motifs or shorter songs that are purposefully made instead of longer songs that are shortened. I'm not talking about Jingles, something that is more structured per say. Any hints? :?:

'Commercial Album' by The Residents. They bought 40 1-minute commercial spots on a San Francisco radio and played weird little jingles. They were released as an album with extra bonus tracks some years later.

They paid to do that, not the other way around, so I doubt they made much money out of it.

The Ramones and other punk bands were pretty much made for radio, and a lot of pop music is (or maybe used to be) made for radio. The latter intentionally, the former just a byproduct of youthful punk energy.
