I was reading a book about the takeover of Fender by CBS, and there was an idea that Leo presented that was described as an "ingenious guitar string bender," and I can't quite figure out what it was supposed to be. Any ideas or thoughts?

It probably was the ideal for a B-Bender system. This system includes levers and pulleys inside the guitar body that enabled the guitar player to simulate a bending of a single B-string up to a whole tone (pedal steel guitar sound).
