I was quite skeptical at first when I saw the title of this video. I thought to myself, "Yah right. Like this is gonna be right on the money." I have to say it's a compelling list. I think I personally would have found a better examples to cite for Slow-Hand and Jimi but I found the rest of the list to be pretty much dead on. Discuss.

It seems they just picked their most famous song. But I guess these are just subjective anyway. The David Gilmore I agree with, not so much the rest. Maybe Blackmore but I like his guitar work on lazy better.

I think they by "top" they meant "most famous"?

There's no doubt that Ritchie Blackmore, for example, has developed and can now play the socks off the young Ritchie who did Smoke On The Water and Child In Time.

Thanks for posting Matt, cool video. The folks that put the video together made interesting picks and I agree with arth 1 that the influence for choices were "famous" and "top". You know that my choices would have been different lol, I liked it even though. :D

I would agree that I would not call them my top 10 guitar solos, but I think Top 10 Iconic Guitar Solos would be a better title for the list.

I was hoping they would not go for all "long form" solos and include at least a few shorter, mid song solos.

As far as Blackmore goes, the solo to Stone Cold is my personal favorite.

A handful that immediately jump to mind for me are:

In no particular order

1. David Gilmour (Pink Floyd) – “Time” – not a note wasted
2. David Gilmour (Pink Floyd) – “Pigs Three Different Ones” – the muff on that one definitely has “hair”
3. Alex Lifeson (Rush) – “La Villa Strangiato” – the way it builds … ahhhhh
4. Keith Scott (Bryan Adams) – “Cuts Like a Knife” - Some might say… Bryan Adams? Seriously? But that solo is awesome.
5. Dave Murray/Adrian Smith (Iron Maiden) – “Hallowed Be Thy Name” – Its Maiden… It Rocks

Heck it's not so subjective to the person(s) that created the list. There are no 9a 9b or 9z slots so I applaud that! Who would argue that thee who created the list would be 10 out of 10 wrong. I smell an agenda brewing.

I think the list is quite good. Except for, like some of you have mentioned, the choice of Jimi's and Eric's songs - and Blackmore (honestly, Child In Time would be a way better choice imho). I also feel November Rain solo is slightly better than the Sweet Child o' Mine, but the Sweet Child is definitely more in line with most of Slash's work.
