A simple question - how many times in the last 12 months has GAS sneaked up behind your back and made you purchase something you suddenly not just wanted but needed so desperately?
Please tell me GAS has been hard on you too in the last 12 months :P

Cool story/G.A.S. list Neimenljivi. I echo the "G.A.S. is a daily occurrence" sentiment lol. I have bought the requisite picks and strings during the past 12 months but am waiting for a guitar/bass/amp purchase to become a need rather than a want  .

I used to have GAS quite a bit when I was playing electric, which used to drive my wife up the wall . Either I would go and buy new gear or swap, which would I admit, start arguments between as at times. I quit my last band in September of last year because I just got tired of dealing with drama and egos , so when I left, I sold all of my gear to GC and just took a few months off from playing. I made the transition to Acoustic in March of this year with a Fender DG20S which I still have and just over a week ago, my wife surprised me with a new Fender CD60CE which I absolutely love. So the only thing I buy now, is just strings and polish along with Lemon Oil for the fretboards of my guitars, that's it. Now if I see a new guitar that's out on the market , I just don't get excited anymore and feel the need to have it. I'm quite content with what I have .

Wow, 70 guitars and 45 amps, now that is an impressive collection :D Which were the ones you liked the most?
But as long as you can afford it, good for you :)

BMW - yeah I can't try everything I buy first either, kinda sucks, but the stores aren't as well equipped with pedals and stuff like that (and I think there's only one Gibson official retailer store in my country, about 2 and a half hours drive from me, which really sucks). So pedals and Gibson stuff is almost impossible to try out here. I do spend an awful lot of time reading reviews and everything connected to a pedal or any guitar-related stuff I am ordering without trying out first. But as is always the case, there's always just one thing left missing to get the holy grail of tone :P I hope you at least sell those pedals then, it is a loss, but not as big. Some stores also have a 30 days return policy :)

Strat-Slinger - I know what you mean. I don't usually decide about buying something straight away. The Deluxe Big Muff was something I've been craving for since June or so. When I see I need something, like a delay sort of pedal, I also almost never go to a shop straight away. I usually wait a couple of weeks, if not for anything else, for financial reasons. In the mean time I do my research, then try out the stuff they have at the store and choose the one I like the most, if I deem it's good enough. I was set on buying a chorus, but they just didn't have one at the store I liked well enough. :(

Armandillo - I agree, one should never overstep their financial capabilities due to GAS. I do easily see myself going to the store and buying everything that I think might come in handy or that I liked, if I won the lottery though  I think the first stop after going for Hawaii for a week and investing at least half of the money and also putting 25% to a safe deposit box would be my local guitar shop where I'd spend a few grand, then I'd go online and fill in a shopping basket at Thomann for another couple of grand

Moochy, I never had an experience like yours, but probably I'd do the same thing if I were in your place

Steve - I have been wanting a 12 string for a while now too. Not that I need it. But it would be nice to have  Possibly a double neck, Jimmy Page-ish double neck one 12 string and one 6 string guitar would sit nicely. And ES-335. And I don't have a Telecaster yet. An original SG would be nice too, even though I will build one soon. Marshall and Vox would be nice to have, although I'd rarely use them.. Oh well, I guess I can keep dreaming

Solid Body - Thanks. My next guitar, apart from the DIY kit (or kits), will probably be a vintage one. I haven't yet decided which, but I am currently leaning towards another Gibson LP. Not that I would sell the current one, I am too emotionally attached to it. Although if I end up buying a vintage Strat, I will almost surely sell my current Strat as I just don't have the emotional connection to it and money always comes in handy (it is a great guitar, don't get me wrong, I love playing it.. but if a better one came along, this one would be expendable). Anyway, I will buy one once I get my BSc degree. Self-gift. I should get that in about a year or so, but I've already been scouting local e-bay sort of e-shops for a while

It comes and goes. Haven't had a bad bout in awhile. Was itching for an 1st gen Peavey Dynabass a couple of weeks ago but fought it off. Was really close to building a pair of fEARful 12/6/1's with some badass Kenwood 12's I have. Ended up building a pair of subs for my home stereo instead. The only thing on my longterm GAS list is a Jazz Bass Plus.

I have to say it's the Fenders I have always liked the most - I have about an even number of Strats and Teles (about 7 each), but I've always been a Tele man at heart.

It's the same with amps. When I was in a band in high school (1963 and on) I was DYING to own a Fender Super Reverb - I finally bought a 1964 model in 1982. It's probably best that I didn't own that amp back then, though, as we tended to play REALLY LOUD! My ears are still ringing.

Looks nice, but what's up with all the pickups? I thought he played with a HH config?

(And I drool even more over Uli's guitar, but those are wicked expensive)

He played a couple different one's during the show. I don't know that I'd want that configuration. It's what shows up in the ad. They have a few different configurations. I'm trying to off a couple of Fenders so I can go check them out and get one. There not cheap! Looks to be beautiful craftsmanship. ;)

You people are pathetic, using a terrible analogy such as gas, the more widely known gas is a involuntary action while as the g.a.s. is a voluntary action. Haven't purchased a guitar in 19 months, drooled over a geetar, wheeling and dealing geetars, pfff.

TC Rocker - tell her you absolutely need it  My GF already said I shouldn't mention any more pedals to her. I should just get them and not tell her anything about it

oxfan - I am so jealous of you right now -.- I paid 70€ (about 100$) or something like that for that same Korg tuner -.- How is it working out for you btw? I love mine, haven't had any problems yet, but I just want to know whether I should be ready for something?
