It's a hunk of wood. There's nothing magical about it.
A new neck would probably be a lot better.

This is the plain honest truth right here. I played a 1960 Strat recently and the thing was just a worn out mess. High E string was nearly hanging off the edge of the fretboard, frets were worn down to the wood so it wouldn't play or intonate properly and the 7.25" radius made the strings choke on bends. Every US Strat I've played since 1985 was better than that thing and the pickups were nothing to write home about.

There was a reason that guitar was played to death like that, Frank. It musta been a good one in its prime, otherwise they ended up as under the bed case queens.

However good they were in their prime a lot of guitars from the 50s and 60s are just wall hangers now, as working guitars they're just not good enough. Give me a modern standard Strat any day of the week.

Most of those old necks are just beat. On top of that it's a crap shoot. The necks weren't very consistent way back. For a lot less than nine bills you can get a neck that works for you and be more or less a custom neck to the specs you prefer. Some of these dealers and pawn shops gotta have problems walking with balls that big.

Agree... your money would be better spent on a brand new Stratocaster 8)
