Has anybody seen this new show yet ? As a huge comic book fan, I was both anticipating and dreading it because, Hollywood has a tendency to say hell with the source material and do it their way. Well after seeing it , I knew the villains origins weren't going to be faithful to the comics but , I didn't care because this show was just so darn good. Both Ben McKenzie and Donal Logue are great as Jim Gordon and Harvey Bullock . I heard the debut pulled in 8 million viewers and that Fox has ordered 16 episodes , so this is going to be around which makes me happy. Plus for us fan boys, we also have the Flash, which is going to be on the CW , and Constantine , which will be on NBC. Yup, TV is definitely looking good this year.

There are only two problems I had with the show. The first is the age discrepancies. Riddler being an adult while Bruce, Selina, and Ivy are kids. Bullock being older than Gordon. Allen and Montoya being adults when they are younger than Bruce.

Second, the fact that WB apparently let Constantine scoop up Jim Corrigan. (The Spectre) Instead, of having him start in Gotham like he did in the Golden Age. He would have been perfect for the overzealous MCU role that Allen and Montoya are filling now, and having him killed in the line of duty after a few seasons would set up a possible Spectre spin off perfectly.

All that fanboy ire aside. I really enjoyed it. It's like Detective Comics before Batman. Wonder if we'll get to see Slam Bradley or Speed Saunders? That would be really cool.

I can see your point about the Riddler being much older. Also, why do they have him working in the GCPD ? That doesn't fit in with his character at all. Your comments about Jim Corrigan I do like. I don't remember what city he was in when he first appeared in More Fun Comics way back in 1940 but, placing him in Gotham and having him killed in the line of duty and setting him up for a possible Spectre series , is a great idea.

Actually, having him be a CSI is pretty much the only way to make his character work in terms of motivation. Remember, for awhile in the comics Riddler reformed and was a PI and in direct competition with Batman. For him it's not about crime. It's about lack of appreciation and credit. Now with Bruce being so young, and Eddie being so much older there's no way for them to be in competition. So his antagonists will be Gordon and Bullock. It's one of the things I actually enjoyed most about the pilot. As brief as it was.

Imagine being Nigma. Genius intellect. Easily the best deductive mind in Gotham at this point. Yet you're stuck in a lab doing all the work for a slob like Bullock who does nothing but abuse you. You put the pieces together, solve the mystery. No one cares. Bullock kicks in a few doors and he's treated like a hero. That's gotta get old. Especially to someone who is unstable. I think they're going to do really well with him. I think this will be the most believable Riddler yet, honestly.

I've been searching for the time and channel on my cable network and not been able to find it. Now that you've affirmed its broadcast, I'll have to consult the web page. Thanks.
