My deville 2x12 chassis is finished point to point conversion and going to ship back to me. This is what buildera say's:
"Finally got it done. Amazing, getting 55 watts with that PT, running 480vdc instead of Super Reverb's 460vdc. Fender's voltage tolerance was +/-20 percent so it's well within, but the extra voltage and SS bridge rectifier gets it more clean power than Super."
and
"Amp sounds killer, if you like 60s Fender with mucho headroom. Breaks up nicely at decent volume. I can help via phone or email anytime with installing it, or whatever you need in future. If there's ever a problem years later, other than tubes, I'll fix whatever it is for free, just as any amp I build, you pay RT ship."

So....I'm wondering if that 480 volt plate voltage will be hard on any 6L6GC tubes.

Short answer no , 480 is safe for most 6L6GC but border line IMO

What is the tube you use ?

What is the bias

Not sure what bias.....have nor received chassis back yet.
Maybe my next question is.....what 6L6GC can best handle the 480vdc Idle voltage....JJ"s?

This may help you ;

Read down the screen ;

".... but the majority of 6L6GC tubes made today, including this one, should be good up to 500 plate volts. "

Where 480 volts come from if you don't have the amp ?

Reading the transformer specs and reading when amp is power "ON " may not be same .

Cold 6L6 bias = high B+ voltage
Hot 6L6 bias = lower B+ voltage

The quotes from my amp builder in my original thread. ........stating the voltage(480) and power (55watts) obviously is taken by him as he tests it in operation. All i could see trom the pics he sent me was that he was using ElectroHarmonix 6L6GC's.
When i recieve amp, i'll put in what i have kicking around (new russian slevetlana') and see what the readings are.

You may use same tubes he test in your amp , if not you'll need to check the bias .
