New and Pink Floyd in the same sentence is a bit of a joke these days.

Don't mind him. That's youth talking. If it ain't punk he's not interested.
( Sorry, Jim. )

Thanks very much for the heads up.
I'll be searching for that album right away and I hope you're right, that they decide to tour again. Won't be the same without Rick Wright but something is better than nothing.

That's good news man! Love Gilmour's playing! Was listening to his live album "Live in Gdansk" not long ago which is good too if you haven't heard it.

I am seriously looking forward to this. I've been listening to On an Island and Live at Gdansk quite a bit lately. This will be a most welcomed edition and a nice tribute to Rick Wright.

I also hope there is some kind of tour. I would jump at the chance to see Gilmour one more time. I missed the run at Radio City Music Hall for his On an Island tour.

FYI; When Floyd first started out, long before they became commercial mainstream, they were a very improvisational band. They would play for long periods, influenced by their own light show. Their shows were considered happenings, rather than concerts. You may have even liked them then. Careful with that ax Eugene. :)

I'm a big Pink Floyd fan from the Gilmour/Waters era. Ever since Waters left the band they have never made an album that can compare.

I listen to too much music to list, a lot of which would have yer head spinnin. :P

Believe me, I think a lot of these old guys need to give it up. I felt the same way about Sabbath's last hurrah, especially because Bill Ward got the boot.

Music is life for these old guys. When you hit 60+ you can't tell me that you won't still be playing music. If I could do it for a living at that age, I would!

I don't understand all the excitement about this. It's not a "new Pink Floyd album", it's an album made from out-takes that weren't good enough to be released. The Beatles did this and the results were an artistic failure but a huge commercial success. If that's the kind of music you want then by all means keep pouring money into the record companies and they'll happily serve you up endless recycled dross.

A "new", but recycled Pink Floyd album is like the old joke about pizza and sex...it's never bad

It doesn't even matter if you explicitly state that something should not be released, if some greedy guy in a suit has the rights to your work, he'll publish it. Heck, it doesn't even matter if you're dead; publishers and spouses will gladly go against your will if there's a dime to be made.
If you don't want something published to make someone else rich, you need to destroy all copies, and not be caught doing it.
