I don't know how I missed this. I ran a search and came up empty, so new thread.

Anyway I think this bodes well for F.M.I.C.'s future! 8)

Aw, come on! It'll be great! Now when "cutting edge" guitarists buy their new Strats with "digital voicing cards" and Digital Modelling Amps on clearance at a Musician's Friend Stupid Deal of the Day they can get a free set of "Beats by Dre" headphones that also don't sell at full retail price to go with it! Fender will now be the "Kings of Clearance!" The future's looking bright!

I think we can expect some kind of Fender guitar with a built-in headphone amp that comes with those cans?

On the plus side that will certainly make trips to GC less irritating.

Welcome Mr. Wood!

Early career

Prior to Beats Electronics, Wood was chief strategy officer of Interscope Geffen A&M and president of its rock imprint DGC Records. He oversaw the company’s traditional and digital business development, emerging business and revenue, and operational strategy. As DGC’s president, Wood was responsible for all Artists & Repertoire (A&R) and marketing decisions and for developing and guiding the label’s artists including Weezer, All-American Rejects, Rise Against, and Yeah Yeah Yeahs. He also founded Tiny Evil Records. Before working in A&R, Wood was involved in the firm’s marketing and publicity.

In 1991, Wood served as a director of publicity for Geffen Records, where he represented bands including Nirvana and Sonic Youth. He later served as director of marketing for Geffen Records and as vice president of A&R at DreamWorks Records. While Wood was at Geffen in 1994, the company posted the first commercial MP3 file, an Aerosmith song released on CompuServe.

Wood joined Interscope Records in 2003 (during its merger with DreamWorks) as executive vice president of A&R, where he developed label deals with Downtown Records and signed artists such as TV on the Radio, All Time Low, Yelawolf, Jimmy Eat World, Elliott Smith and AFI.
