Hi, I had posted this over on Acoustic Guitars but the last time I posted anything on there, I never got any feedback so I thought I'd try here. This is my new , Fender CD60CE which I just got a few days ago from Sweetwater who by the way, totally rock. After playing electric for 43 years, I made the switch back in March to go all Acoustic. This guitar sounds great unplugged but I don't have a amp for it and here is where I could use some suggestions . I only have a budget of around $150.00 or so for a amp and would like to get a Acoustic amp and not a Electric one. I was looking on Guitar Center's website under their used gear section and saw some Fender Acoustasonic 30 models selling for around the price I had mentioned. Does anybody on here have any experience with those amps and if so, could you please tell me how they are ? Thanks.

Sorry I do not have any experience with acoustic guitar amps, as I usually use an AKG 460 with a ck1 capsule Mic into the PA as I like the woody tones it brings out.
Anyway I just want to say that is a very nice looking guitar, hope you get years of pleasure from it

They're okay - perhaps not as transparent as more expensive amps, and they're Made in Youknowwhere, so I wouldn't expect them to last a lifetime.
But it's hard to fault them for the price.

They're OK. I also tried models called the Junior as well as the Senior. None of those models are available anymore. The Fender acoustic amps I tried sounded pretty much like of lot of other brands of low end acoustic amps. They will amplify your acoustic guitar. I am a tone snob so that's about as kind as I can be. Maybe the newer models have improved but the price range doesn't seem to give me confidence in that thought.

Also, just so you know, 30 watts is basically for practice only. 30 watts might be considered mid-range power in an electric guitar tube amp but it's on the lower end of the power scale for acoustic guitar amps. In my mind a 30 watt amp would not be worth owning at all. My own acoustic amp is 300 watts (or 200 depending on which spec you look at) and I don't believe it is overkill at all. I find it to be just about right for a small to average gig.

Let your $150 be the start of saving for a quality acoustic amp. You'll need a lot more. Meanwhile just plug into the PA direct while your savings grow....it's as good as a $150 amp IMO, especially if you can use a stage monitor.

I believe that some of the lower priced Vox modeling amps have a separate section for mics and acoustic guitars.
BTW: For a guitar that's not a wallet emptier, she sure is a pretty little thing.

I've given it some thought and have decided for now to see about getting a used Fender Frontman 65R combo or a Princeton 65R for now. Those are loud enough for gigs and have excellent sounding cleans. I can always hook up a chorus pedal for that extra shimmering effect.

You really may want to reconsider. An acoustic guitar has lots of overtones, and electric guitar amps deliberately cut off all high frequencies. I'd rather hook my acoustic up to a keyboard amp or pre-amped studio monitors than to an electric guitar amp. Too much of the high frequency sound gets lost, and the bass becomes too boomey for an acoustic guitar. An electric guitar amp isn't designed to give faithful reproduction, even the most 'clean' ones. They're made to make electric guitar sound good.

I concur. Don't run an acoustic guitar through an electric guitar amplifier. You will not be happy with your sound.

I think I've seen smaller used Fender PA's on Craigslist for about $200. That would really spread out the sound and not flatten the tone. Plus, you could run other things through it as well. Get some stereo chorus going and sound big!

I have used a bass amp for an acoustic and was surprised at how good it did sound once eq'd properly. Better than an electric guitar amp, almost as good as a keyboard amp, but not up to acoustic guitar amp quality. If you have one, by all means give it a try. That's what I did. But don't buy one for that expressed purpose.

Seeing what my budget is, I think I'm going to go with a used Fender Acousasonic 30 for now. Thanks.

I have one of the early runs of an acoustasonic jr.

sounds pretty good.

not as good as the set up with my yamaha stomp pre-amp into my PA tho.

But with an acoustasonic used for playing around in your living room or studio, yes.,

I gigged out for several years when I was playing the local casinos and I always used a Fender Acoustasonic Junior, the first generation and I loved it. We ran an out from it to the regular PA and it sounded great. We ran an out because the guy running the sound system for the casino used to run a vacuum cleaner and after he had it all where HE wanted it, my partner and I would tweak it on stage and get it right.

I still have the amp and use it in the studio, but when I play out now I am using a BOSE column. Your Fender should sound just fine through a Fender.
