Mark Knopfler is to release his ninth solo album, "Tracker", early next year.

Being a huge Knopfler fan, for me this is great news! Anyone else excited for this new release?

Knopfler is a great guitarist.
I also play fingerstyle with both sides of my fingernails, and thumb-fret too, so I peruse his videos quite a bit. The music style might not be the same, but his techniques are extremely good.

He really inspired me to learn to play the guitar. I try to play like him, but his right hand technique is really unique, so I've put quite some effort into getting that right.
Mind you, I'm not a good guitar player at all (can't even read music), but I have a great time playing!

Clawhammer style picking is something you should look into. That's basically what he's doing.

He does pick both ways with his fingers when needed, not just one, like most clawhammerers.
And he even uses his pinkie on occasions - I've seen him do a nice rhythmic IMAC pull of four strings over and over again for a bar, which I borrowed.

I am certainly a big big fan of Mark K. I have most of his music. He is, surely, a blessed and gifted artist. Only bad thing about him is that he's not from the U.S. Just joking. I would like to see him live, only I hate concerts. My daughter took me to see AC-DC and I was not impressed, to say the least. Couldn't wait to leave. If that is called music--- then what would you call what Mark K. does??? Saw Brooks and Dunn live, good, but couldn't hear for couple days afterwards. Nokie Edwards ( Ventures ) is another artist who is IMO very good, but don't know if he is still around. Hope he is. Last I heard, his health was failing. Here's to Mark Knopfler and Dire Straits,,, wish for many more years of success. Just Luvvin it.
