Actually, I haven't played too many Fender bass guitars. My P-bass is quite nice, kind of custom built. I don't believe I've ever played a Fender "Jazz bass". I will have a Mustang (guitar) soon too :D

I take a detour now and then, but I'm now at a point where it doesn't even sound like a real bass to my ears unless it's a Precision or Jazz. I even think the Beatles would have been better if Paul had used a longscale Fender the whole time. What's this thread about again?

My only stray from Fender purity is liking ceramic magnets better than alnico.

+1 to all that. Many classic players I like I think would have sounded better on Fenders. All bassists I count as inspiration play Fender Precisions of one type or the other. (single or split coils)
