Hey guys, I just thought I'd drop by and give y'all a way overdue update! I'm probably not going to have a ton of time on my hands with school started back up again, but I'll try to duck in and check the forums between study sessions (like right now).

Unfortunately my summer didn't go entirely as planned. I really wanted to get back in the studio and record some new songs that I've written, but that didn't pan out. Due to family circumstances, I was forced to buy a car (which is actually not a bad thing!) and so that blew my recording budget down to nothing. Though now that I have a car, my life should run quite a bit smoother! Theoretically, it should lead to better gigs and more time to study.

I'm in my second year of college now, and so far I've been able to maintain a 4.0 GPA! The bad thing is that it takes up all of my free time. If I'm not working, I have to study. It leaves precious little time for other things like writing music, reading, or visiting my favorite forum. :( But, despite that it has done wonders for my financial aid. (Being on the poor side of things helps with that too. ) I'm still not entirely sure whether I'm going to transfer to a four year university next year, or keep it up knocking out my basic courses at the community college. I'd like to try to get as much out of the way in community college as possible, but there's a possibility that I may be able to get a fairly good scholarship if I keep my grades up.

So anyway, like usual I'm just sort of playing everything by ear to see what happens. I'm still dying to do the recording thing, and if all goes well I'm hoping to be able to do that over Christmas break. I might try doing a kickstarter or some other type of fund raiser to help offset the cost, but since I got a cheap (but still decent) car I don't have to worry about a car payment and maybe I can save up enough for a session if I start now. The one thing that I was able to do over the summer was write some new material, so I can't wait!

Well TGS, as usual you have your priorities straight. You only get one chance to do college right and now is the time. With a good education and your talent, you'll have plenty of time to accomplish anything you want. Good luck and thanks for checking in. There's lots of us here that are interested in how you're doing.

Congrats on the 4.0...no easy feat!

As for the recording your new material. Enjoy playing this new stuff live for a while, great opportunity to gauge which way to play em. Whenever we wrote new songs, we always tried to play em live...fast, slow, and in-between to help gauge which way was best, and it helped to work the song and get them where they should be. This approach may not work for you, but something to consider.

Continue to drop us here a line from time to time, I for one like hearing how your career is coming along.

Hi Texas! Good to see your post! Congratulations, 4.0 GPA is awesome, and, a new ride (whenever I bought a car, used or beat-up I thought, it's new to me! lol :D ). You have written some songs over the summer. When you record them we would like to hear them for sure. You are busy doing important stuff, thank you for the update. Just remember, keep your shoulder to the wheel your nose to the grindstone your ear to the ground and if you can get anything done in that position you'll be a magician! Hope to hear from you again soon.
