I was wondering how much distortion can single coil pickups handle with out 50 Hz / 60 Hz hum or any unwanted sounds?

There are a lot of variables at play.

The room.
The wiring of the room.
Proximity to transformers.
Proximity to dimmer switches.
Proximity to florescent lighting.
Guitar shielding.
Instrument cable.
Amp issues.
Pedal issues.
Volume.
I'm sure others could chime in and give even more examples.

You question cannot be answered.
There is no defined answer to your question.
There are only variables for which it is up to the individual guitarist to either control or else compensate for.

30 sounds about right, maybe 35 if you stand at 12 degrees to the amp

Feel free to quote it anytime you like.
You can even quote it as is, as in with my name stapled to it.

Having said that I think it's entirely possible I was wrong. I kinda like Danny Devito's response of 30. I think he proved there WAS an answer.
