That's his secret identity, though he's not a son of Krypton, or Gotham City. If you followed him on Facebook as well, you'd be reacquainted with the real 'he'. Does the band named Haleamano ring a bell out of these Forums from years back? 8) 8)

Years back - and more recently. They've got a very alive and kicking looking website, I notice.

BTW, not regarding anyone in particular, but it always amuses me that most users of this Forum hide their identities behind usernames. Presumably most people who play the electric guitar either dream of being famous, or had those dreams when they were younger. It's odd that people who long to have their face and name all over album covers, TV screens, merchandise and so on suddenly become all bashful about who they are on a music website.

I think it's funny when people post YouTube videos of themselves playing, with the camera positioned so their face is hidden. Do they go on stage with a cardboard box over their head?

Cheers - C

Always thought it was the 'trendy' thing...the way these 'chat' rooms evolved. Anyone interested in having my secret identity is ever free to send me a PM. 8)

Yea, it is kind of funny isn't it? I always tried to use my real nickname. All of my friends and family have been calling me Shred since about '85.

15-20 years ago, I would have no problems getting that as a username. But once the Metal craze came back to popularity.. Good luck with that.

Funny story about my Facebook page. It use to be that your web address for your page was random. A person couldn't choose what it could be. Then came the time when I got a Facebook message saying that at a certain date and time, it would be possible.

So I stayed up that night and waited til the clock struck exactly midnight and immediately registered Facebook.com/SHRED in 5-seconds. I've had people offer to buy it from me. But I refuse. It's the only website where I don't have to add an extra letter or number to my nickname. I earned it, and I'm keeping it.

I too tried to use my real nickname but since it's also the nickname for Richard,it was vetoed so I chose the one that I've been using ever since-4 or 5 before that one were vetoed too because of duplication.

I must admit that "Matt" is not part of my real name.

So, if I am getting this straight .....

STRATOBOB,
Jah Soldier,
shred6
shredd6

are all the same person?

But Stratobob is somebody different?

Just out of curiosity are there any others?
Would it be too much to ask why Jah (that is the only name I recognize) needs multiple user names?
What's wrong with Jah?
You know some of us old codgers aren't gonna remember all of that.
You're just some new guy now.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

No, I'm not Stratobob.

When I first joined this forum I was shredd6. That's my username on other forums too.

But the old board got hacked if I remember correctly. So the guys at Fender decided to use a more secure board version. When the change was made, some people were having problems logging in. Myself included. But rather than having Brad figure out why I was having problems, I created a new account as Jah Soldier ( the title of one of my songs). The Shredd6 account is still considered unavailable probably due to the old email address that I no longer have. And it was from the older board days.

Jah Soldier is a nickname that came about from more of a cult following of the song. Most of our fans were Hawaiian, and they didn't know my name. Heck, most of them didn't know I sang the song until they saw us live. So rather than really learning my name, they would just call me Jah Soldier. Being that they were fans, I just went with it.

I feel more at home being called shred. I've been called that for pretty much 30-years now. If you want to see something really interesting, look in the "thank you" section of the first KORN album.

There is also one other obscure nickname I've been called at times. Ted Shred Lobster Head. There's a funny little reason for that one. But I only hear that one a few times a year.
