At the moment I don't have a preference. I've been using Fender strings for some time, however they were breaking constantly (and I'm not a hard player). I've tried using a light coat of oil on the bridge saddles, used a super fine grade of emery paper to smooth out the top of the bridge saddle, but still had the problem of string breakage. Finally, I switched to D'Addario strings and the breaking problem suddenly stopped. So for the moment, I'm using D'Addarioi strings.

Ernie Ball .010 to .046. I like the Fender strings, but I've just gotten to the point where I will buy several packages of strings, and just put 'em on any electric on any given day. (and not all of my guitars are fenders)

I used to use the .009's, but I was constantly busting strings....

I like guitar strings on my guitars, and bass strings on my basses.

I use a combination of Dean Markley Blue Steel and Dean Markley Flatwounds on both my electric and acoustic guitars. Usually in 9's or 10's

I have Fender Tape Wound Nylon strings on my Acoustic Bass. Dean Markley Blue Steel Bass strings on my Beatle Bass copy, and I'm going to try Dean Markley Bass Blasters on my Jazz Bass.

On my Fullerton acoustic, I was using Fender acoustic strings... then I switched to some Martins, and really like them. They're extra bright, though, much brighter than the Fenders.

On my Casino, I use D'Addario something-or-other.

On my Fender Strat, I use Fender Bullets

On my Squier Strat, I use anything available.

I keep all the packages, so I know what's on them, I just don't know them off the top of my head.

On the Gibson acoustic, I don't know yet. I just got it, and it needs some repairs before I can play it.

I use Ernie Ball Super Slinky 9's on my strat because I like the overall feel of them and their "bendability."

On my Les Paul, I use D'Addario 10's for a more edgy feel for lack of a better term at the moment.

I like playing hard rock and metal, and I still love using sets of 9s or 10s. I tend to favor strings that can bend well (especially when you practice pinch harmonics). :D

Agreed, I don't like too heavy a gauge, even for heavier music. My amp's distortion gets enough out of what I have input that I don't feel the need for anything more.

Nothing but D'Addario EXL115s (11-49) for the past 15 years, and tuned down a whole step...
