I would start off every show you do with John Cage's 4'33.

With that combination?

You've got 2 guitars. That's a big deal:

1st question: Are you guys doing a locomotive style (where you are both playing the same thing to make the overall sound heavier) or more of a melodic/counterpoint thing where parts are complimented (ala something like the Stones or a pop band like Def Leppard.)

If you're doing the heavy stuff....then I'd look into music by Metallica, or Black Sabbath, Ozzy....or a lot of metal bands. (and yes, even stuff by Iron Maiden like "Number of the Beast" and "The Trooper")

If it's the other case? Classic rock! CCR, The Rolling Stones, David Bowie, ZZ Top....

Sexyback by Justin Timberlake is easy and quite fun to play. Although its more fun if you add your own "metal/rock edge" to it.

Otherwise I'd say songs like "Breakin' the Law" (Judas Priest), or "Should I Stay or Should I Go?" (The Clash) are also good ones to play.

well, we like to change locomotive/melodic, at this moment we play songs from muse, queens of the stone age & the raconteurs but we want to play some of the classics like the rolling stones, ZZ top because that is the direction we wanna go into with the band to make our own songs

Nice.

Well, if you are going that route, I'd really suggest a song or two by the Allman brothers (Most people have heard Midnight Rider...then there's Statestoro Blues.) With ZZ Top.....I have to admit my personal fave is "Just Got Paid Today" with that killer hook. Credence Clearwater Revival songs are really, really easy to play...and it's not a biggie if you change stuff up a bit.

Tom Petty stuff tends to work well in a cover environment. "Last Dance With Mary Jane" is a great cover song, and "Runnin' Down a Dream" works well.

Steve Miller Band....easy songs, great to cover. "The Joker" is a really great song...instantly recognizable.

Also...2 other recommendations (or maybe 3...what the hell)......First...Bob Marley. Great, great groove music. Or, if you want a nice Clapton song that covers Marley, "I Shot the Sheriff". My fave is "Stir it Up". Also.....some funk. But, it would be worth it to look off the beaten path, and into the old school stuff (circa 1970's to early 80's.) Rick James, Wild Cherry, Rufus. James Brown (hard rock style....have a second guitarist emulate those horn hits!)

If anything....I tend to like the melodic stuff myself.

PS: Now, if you want to really freak people out? Cover a female artist. One particular song....Blondie's "One Way or Another"....if a guy sings that, it sounds like a total psycho song...even moreso.

I love that song!!!!

I would suggest a really upbeat song that almost everyone you think will know and will get the crowd pumped. Something like "Start Me Up" or "Honky Tonk Women" by the Stones or "You Really Got Me Goin" by the Kinks. (I think that's the name of the song). Or even better, something like "My Generation" or "I Can't Explain" by the Who. Or "I Want To Hold Your Hand" by the Beatles. Something that gets ya pumped or is kinda a playful song that everyone knows.

Note: I've never played in front of a lot of people these are just some songs that I would want to play in front of people. just my opinion
