Well, I traded the Godin to my local pawnshop for a few pedals, 2 of which don't work, so I'll be going back tomorrow.

Anyhow, I got a really good EHX Micro Q Tron.

It's kind of halfway between an autowah and a flanger, but I like it.

I'm wondering, though, how do I get that flanger tone where the flange kinda chases a chord. It's really subtle, and I can't provide an example because I can't remember where I heard it. It's just a really subtle flange and it sounds good with gain and kind of backs up the chord somehow. Thats how I can describe it, at least.

What kind of return policy does a pawn shop have? I'd get there bright and early.
Or, as early as the bottom feeding proprietor arrives. Good luck, sir.

Are you talking about a flanging effect like what you hear on the pre-solo breakdown in Lenny Kravitz' song "Are You Gonna Go My Way"?

To me, that's the perfect flanged tone, and we used it as the benchmark for a song we recorded...but the drummer/producer used the on-board flange effect of our Korg DAW, so I have no idea what pedal would reproduce that sound.

A flange pedal is on my list of things to add one day...I remember the Ibanez Soundtank Flanger sounded pretty good back in the day, but they weren't very durable.

This EHX sounds better than any flange I've heard.

It works so well for riffs and doesn't end up walking all over itself in terms of sound.

I'm only familiar with the set flanger on my hybrid amplifier. I can take or leave chorus, I don't prefer delay or flanger or phaser for that matter, as one tends to listen too much to the effect and not the playing.

Great, encouragement into chasing a sound/tone that they we never catch. Good luck!

Just like we did for you on that jackassery thread about a non-existent pedal, Jim?
Buxom is articulate enough and smart enough to actually describe a sound and post a sample of what he's going for...
