Stupid two-bit barber thought I wanted a hair cut with my shave.

I wonder how many of us are old enough to appreciate the interstices of your comment.  8)

Fewer and fewer, alas. A couple of years ago, I drove with a friend, and spotted a bright red road sign, so I exclaimed "Burma Shave!". My younger friend looked at me like I had sprouted another head.
I also find it somewhat disturbing that a lady friend claims she was born the year Freddy Mercury died.

Anyhow, the top reference has gotten a bad rap, so today's youth listen to some four bits guy. Inflation, I guess.

I was 17 and had my parents permission to go as long as my 24 y.o. cousin took me, which was the plan...

The weekend before we were to leave for NY, my cousin lost his license for 90 days for Driving While Intoxicated, so I missed the show.

I saw the movie several years later while on Station Dixie aboard the USS Constellation (CV-64). The film was shown on the Flight Deck, projected against a large white screen.

The problem was, the ship had to observe Combat Conditions which meant a nighttime Blackout. So they showed the film before sunset and you really couldn't see anything at all.

Fortunately, they did hook up a fairly decent, and loud, PA system, so at least we got to hear all the great performances.

I saw the film in a theatre, for the first time really, late in the '70s.

cheers!
