Does anyone use it? Do you like it?
I was thinking of buying it with a coupon I have, but I want to use it as a VST plugin for my DAW. The website doesn't mention vst at all.
Can this program only be used as a stand alone? I don't really want to start recording into a new program.

I use EZDrummer, I presume it's version 1. Brilliant piece of kit, I'd guess that the new version will work as a standalone too even though I never use it that way.

Just looking at the Toontrack website it looks like they've improved the interface for selecting MIDI files, not before time.

So do you use version 1 as a plug in to your DAW? Usually when software can be used as a vst plugin, it's prominently mentioned. I didn't see anything about that looking at version 2. It mentions that you can record your songs right in the program, but I don't want to start using a different recording interface. I'm fine with what I have, I just want better drums.

It is a VST plugin. I believe it also has a stand-alone interface available. I never found a need or use for a stand-alone interface for it (other than a glorified metronome). Loading it up in your DAW is the way to use it. Version 1 was really good I think V2 is even better. I don't have V2 but when it was released I followed the features on it. If you can get it at a low price, I would go for it. I use Studio Drummer now but would gladly switch to ezd2. Also, make sure you can get the kit you want for it at a good price. You can youtube any of the kits. Last I checked the Metal Machine kit sounded killer for any style. Just because it says "Metal" does not mean that's all it's for. I would go for the kit that sounds best to your ears regardless of the name. EZ drummer works with GM midi so you can use midi files from a variety of sources or edit your own.

Thanks, I'm probably going to give it a try. I just didn't want to waste the coupon on it if I couldn't use it with my DAW.
With Vrs. 2 they seem to be stressing the ability to make a song in the software, so I think they might be trying to turn it into their own DAW.

I think that's more about organizing the entire drum part from within the plugin. With features for selecting intro, verse, etc.. and using EZD features and tools to help you put it all together along with the features of your DAW.

I just took a look and watched a 14 minute vid by Mitch Gallagher and I might have to get this software. I can see it changing my output of personal music. Glad it was brought to my attention. :D 8)

I ordered it online. I'm supposed to get an email to do the download, but nothing in the last three hours. Maybe in the morning.

I would strongly recommend it to anyone making rock music with a VST-compatible DAW. I used to use a combination of Battery and Groove Agent, those almost never get used now, everything's done in EZDrummer. Like this ...

I thought EZ Drummer just required a one time online activation. I don't think it's Ilok is it?

Sorry, I'm responding to what you said in the other thread.

I was told EZ Drummer2 requires an Ilok account to activate it. I haven't downloaded it yet, so I can't say for sure.
I have to get a cable to my recording computer to download it there. That computer has never been hooked up to the internet. It's probably going to freak out when it gets plugged in for the first time.

I have EZ2 and it's really great software. I knocked out arrangements for 12 songs in two days. It's so easy to audition several beats, drag and drop them into the arrangement line and build a track, then drag and drop the entire arrangement directly into your DAW of choice. Amazing product. Doing this with EZ1 or Superior would have taken weeks. Just remember to set your tempo and note measurements prior to starting and make sure your DAW project matches. This is the best song arrangement tool I have encountered. Drums done, move on to tracking other things. It's like having a drummer in your studio and being able to tell them to try different things. If you are not a drummer, the beat options are so varied and the ability to experiment so EZ, it's a great writing tool.

Big fan.
Enough raving.
No Ilok required.

Great, thanks. I guess that will be my evening project to get it downloaded and setup.

I purchased and downloaded it. Went to install. I forgot to see what system requirements were. I have XP and EZ requires windows 7 or better. I do need a new notebook. I would like to find one with Win7 instead of 8. Whatever, I'll have to get a new notebook and then I can start putting things together. A cursory look for what I want made my brains boil. I'll make another go of it later.
