I was recently in the market for a new combo amp, I tried everything fender, vox, marshall, etc. The final decision was between a Mesa Express 5:50 and an Orange AD30, love the sound of both and would love to have both, unfortunately I had to make a choice and I went with the Mesa Express 5:50. I loved the sound of the orange AD30 but it had no treble, bass or mid control for the clean channel, only had one volume knob.
If anyone out there has tried either of these amps what choice would you make and why. Also anyone who has opinions on the Mesa Express 5:50 please comment.

What do you think of it now that you have it? Are you happy with it? I love the concept, and I love the sound of a Mesa. Does the 5W setting have some kick? I have a little Vox DA-5 with the 3 wattage settings and it's mighty loud at 5W, even without the tubes and tone your 5:50 has. Congrats!

Noley, so far so good, i've only had it for about three days, the 5watt/classA, setting can get pretty loud, you have less clean headroom than when in 50 Watt/AB mode, this amp has an almost endless supply of tones especially when the contour knob is engaged, in 5watt mode the blues channel sounds amazing with the contour knob. However the orange AD30 was dead simple 30Watt/Class A, where as with the mesa you can spend hours looking and searching through the tones because there are so many to choose from which is a good thing but it can sometimes itself become endless. Choices or No choices thats the question

Mesa/Boogies and Oranges are both great amp makers. It just depends on what flavor you're after.

Personally I would say get the Orange because many of the annoying bands out there have what is becoming the standard Mesa/Boogie rectified sound....I mean I guess there are differences, but Creed/AlterBridge, 3 Doors Down, Seether, Puddle of Mudd, and Nickelback, to name a few, all seem to have the same guitar tone to me...
