Trem Blocks do make a difference IMO. I changed the whole trem system on my 72 Strat with a Super-Vee Bladerunner and the difference is dramatic. A quality steel block will enhance sustain and bottom end. Bridge saddles matter too. The Super-Vee is a direct drop in replacement with no modifications to the guitar there are no friction points and the guitar stays in tune no matter what you dish out. I was really skeptical when I bought it, but it works and sounds great. If you just want to change the block, like Arjay said, go with a high quality steel block.

+1...I put a Steel Trem block into my CAR MIM 60's Classic Series and IT did make a noticeable difference in tone and sustain.
That's why Leo's patent specified a steel trem block. Anything less is but a blasphemous imitation.

Let the naysayers argue with Mr. Fender.

Arjay
+1 My 72 Strat had a cast zink pos in it. The bridge saddles were garbage too only chrome plated. It did take me 40 years to wear it out though. I saved the original trem. The reason for a high quality block is so it will fit right out of the box. There is a huge difference IMO. At least it was on mine. It rings like a bell now and the increase in sustain is dramatic.

Don't know. My 72 Strat is the only one I've ever owned. That had a cast block.I have a bunch of other guitars, but not Fender. I did build a pretty nice Tele, but it has no Fender parts on it.
I lean more towards Gibson and others. I usually won't buy more than one guitar or model from the same manfacturer. Just seems redundant to me. I have no favorites. I was more of a Fender amp guy than guitars. Now I just build them.

I've always been a gibson guy at heart as far as guitars go. Fender amps have always been a main stay.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

I am a firm believer that if it is an upgrade, then it will make a difference. here's an example:
I bought a used Jasmine, cheapo acoustic for the cheapo price of $30 U.S. I bought a set of Martin Lights, great upgrade there to the rusty strings that were on it. I went to switch them out and one of those plastic tuners fell apart in my fingers. So, on went a set of decent tuners, I think I used Grovers, like I usually do. Adjusted the truss rod, new tuners, new strings. It sounded great for a bang around guitar and even stayed in tune well.
All guitars are nice, there are just some that are better than others.

No snobbery here either. I'm big on inexpensive guitars.
Here's a couple from my stable. Built them myself for fun.

I took this one out last week. At first it got laughs, then it got holy crap that sounds great!

This one I built from parts from Stewmac. Four way switching sounds awesome and feather light.

stratele meant no harm. He's been around here a long time. His native language is French and sometimes things get lost in the translation. He's a really nice guy and has helped countless people on the forum with amp and guitar problems.
