For example when I was in high school I went to Atlanta to see Led Zeppelin. I was pumped!!! Enjoyed the show but was disappointed that it was a bit of a letdown. Maybe the guys were off some that night but the show wasn't that great. :(

Very early 80s, Marty Robbins. Medium venue, maybe 500. He was off that night, possibly drunk.

Still, between the lines, so to speak, one could see true greatness. Sad he passed to the next realm before an opportunity came to hear him at his best.

Pearl Jam. I'm not into the style of music that Pearl Jam plays, but they were opening for the Rolling Stones. I'm not criticizing them because of their style of music or that it's not my cup of tea, but instead it seemed that they were just not playing (musically) as well as I thought they should be playing for a big time professional band. They seemed really off, musically. I saw a bottle of whiskey being passed around, so maybe that had something to do with it.

Boston I went to a concert of theirs in Las Cruces NM in '76. I don't know if it was the venue or what but they sounded nothing like what I had anticipated. They sounded nothing like any of the albums. I remember (barely) that they were unable get even close to what thier studio sound was.

Staind, POD, Dope, and Crazy Town one night quite a few years ago in Minneapolis. I wasn't into any of those bands but I went with a group of people. Crazy Town's two rapper guys had one of their mics go down. They had to pass the good one back and forth or stand next to each other. None of the groups sounded stellar. The highlight that night was that they played A Perfect Circle's first album, which had just come out, inbetween bands.

Ozzy Osbourne I went and saw him at the Balt. Civic center which
is a horrible place to see a concert even now. The new name is
the First mariner arena. Well he only did a few songs and it was like
minutes between each then it ended like out of nowhere.

I see a terrible performance every Wednesday at my Youth Group (praise band). Sad part (for them) is, I'm the new rhythm guitarist so I might make a few changes...

'Cause before the new pastor, the band didn't SUCK.

In the early 80's I went to see The Kentucky Headhunters open for Hank Williams Jr. in Sacramento. The Headhunters ROCKED! Hank on the other hand had a bad attitude, he was blindly throwing his guitars back over his head to his tech when something happened to them. He even threw a temper tantrum as he was leaving the stage.
Needless to say I lost a lot of respect for Hank as an entertainer that night.

Saw John Mayer at the Leon County Civic center this year. And he was not as good on stage as I thought he would be.

It was 90 now that I think more carefully about it. My youngest son was almost 2.
My girlfriend got tickets for it (I was divorced) and we sat in the bleachers to the right of the stage.
