Ibanez hasn't been around this long making garbage that falls apart. Back in the 70's they were actually as good as or even better than CBS Fender and Norlin Gibson.

Here's a demo of the bottom feeder AS73. It's not me. Not bad at all for a cheap guitar. I was going to change the tuners and bridge, but never had any issues with them on mine. I don't like the fact they're made in China, but the QC at Ibanez seems better than Fender's lower end guitars ans amps. Speaking of amps, Ibanez has a little lunchbox amp with a Tube Screamer built into it. Sounds pretty cool. I would still take an Ibanez Jazz Box over a Carlo Robelli any day.

I really like Ibanez too. This is one of those one's where you can't come out and say it without getting in understandable trouble.

It's no trouble  Ibanez has a lot of fans. When I bought that acoustic guitar in 1972 I was making sixty five bucks a week. It has a spruce top, rosewood back and sides with a rosewood fingerboard. It's all solid wood. Now I let all kinds of people sign it. I was at a family reunion up in Saint John Canada and let all kinds of friends and family sign it even kids. It needs a fret job and the bridge repaired, but it's really not wotrh that kind of money especially since I bought my Martin.

I bought myself a used 2011 Gretsch 5120 a couple months ago for $499 at a Guitar Centre in St. Louis. It looks great. It sounds great. It plays great. It gets great reviews online.

If the 5120 is not on your list you should at least consider it.

The new 5220 is even nicer, but the price has gone way up. Over $950 here in Canada now.

Hi

I finaly bought a used gretsch G5120 and I love the sound, but it hums really loud... It has still the stock pup's (gretsch buckers). I read about grounding issues with the bigsby vibrato, but if I look into the F-holes I think i can see running a groundwire to the screwholes of the bigsby. I don't know what it is, but when I touch the strings, volume knobs, vibrato, pup switch or pups, the humming dissapears and when I untouch it, it is there again. Also I think it's strange the I don't hear any sound when i tap on the pole pieces of the pups, but only when I tap in between the pole pieces. Is that normal?

grtz

A used Ibanez is starting to look really good right about now. Sorry I could not resist. It is a ground issue. Check all the ground wires - from pickups, Tone and Volume pots, 3-way switch, and Bigsby connections.

Use a small mirror - glue a small stick or piece of string to it so it does not fall into the body of the Gretsch - to inspect the interior wiring through the F-holes.
