Hey All, I am in the market for an acoustic - electric guitar, and I need some advice.

To boot, At GC the other day an Ibanez AES10EAM AE, for a number of reasons, i thought it sounded great, it was VERY sturdy (finish-wise) and was reasonably priced at 350

WHat would you guys recomend for someone looking into An acoustic electric, accustomed to a strat, with the largest body im willing to get being the Fender Sonoran? I'm actually trying for a smaller body so long as it doesnt take away from the sound

Ibanez is possible

Any suggestions?
THanks

Your friendly neighborhood Bahu

There is a type of Fender "Acoustsonic" Stratocaster that has all the same dimensions as a regular Strat, if not more lightweight. 'Course last I saw one of those is was hitting around $750+.

I don't know ibanez very well but...
I usually aim for ones that don't have laminate tops, making them sound better (although this might be subjective).
Bang for the buck i like seagull.
You can also get away with a nice little cedar martin around the 500$ mark.
i'm no acoustic expert, my father on the other hand is... but anything under 1000$ usually doesn't float his boat.

Few pointers:
Look for solid wood tops
make sure the seal with the top and bridge is well done
For the sides Mahogony is darker tone, maple brighter tone and Rosewood in the middle
is it pretty!

whatever you do listen for the sound you WANT!
