Just wanting to make sure this is the real deal MIM strat. Also wondering if it's a good deal - seems like one to me!

Looks to be authentic and a good deal as well.

Generally a bone stock MIm standard in good condition is around $300 or so. Getting it with those mods for $75 is a great deal. His loss, your gain.

+1

The DiMarzio's alone are worth a couple of hundred bucks.

Hey guys, thanks for your help! It looked like the real deal I just couldn't believe he'd let it go for that price considering the upgrades. Sounded too good to be true. He contacted me and I'm going to try it out today and most likely buy it. I only wish it had a sunburst body!

Speaking of authentic, I stopped in Pawn America yesterday and saw a really nice looking strat, no paint just a gloss finish and black pickguard. When I got a closer look at it I realized it was a copycaster. None of the parts were authentic and they wanted retail value for a new MIM strat. I just handed it back and said "thank you". On my way out I bumped into a small Marshall practice amp and got it for a bargain $20. It's in great shape too!

Yes, it is $375. In my last post I was talking about a different guitar. Why confused?

O, I read all the posts, and then went to the site, and I guess after reading 01GT eibach post I thought you were getting it for $75 but now it all makes sense, your getting all the mods for a great deal, sometimes I can be a little slow maybe getting old too

She is mine! I offered him $305 at first because that's what I had. I sold some old video games and came up with enough for his 375 offer. It is just like the ad presented it, only one other damage noted, a noticeable dent in the headstock but I don't care. Played it through his tube amp and it sounded amazing. Also sounds good through my little Marshall MG10. He gave me the original pickguard and pickups as well and it has the whammy bar and saddle key.

It's all set up for 10s, too. The 4th string needs to be set up a little because the intonation is slightly off.

Turns out it's a 50th anniversary as well. Does anybody know if these '96-'97 strats have an alder body?

If not alder, then poplar (also an acceptable tone wood).

Nice score!

8)

If poplar, make sure you re-lacquer any worn spots. Poplar is an allergenic wood. (I won't work on it without a mask.) Other than that, it's a nice wood, which can give some nice iridescent effects.
