I just heard this earlier today, so had to share it.

I've never really gigged, but I get the joke.
I'm sure many here will get it as well.
and some good playing as well.

I totally get it. And even when I was in 100% original bands that were no where near blues there was always "that guy" or "that girl" that requested we play one of those songs. Also got a lot of requests for Freebird. I forgot how to play that song since I was like 13 lol.

If you've never seen Tom Principato live, you damn well should! Fabulous player & singer with a great band. Love 'em!

I get that this threads about playing cover tunes live and I don't wanna derail it but...
Some people need to come to grips with the fact that new music didn't stop in 1977. A liquored up person calling out some tired old cover is bad enough but I'll cut em some slack for trying to relive old times but people who listen to classic rock stations at work, on their way to work, and on the weekend??!! 90% of classic rock playlists are from 1964-1977 that is 37-50 year old music. C'mon, you don't have to listen to Katy Perry but what about Wilco, Ryan Adams, Drive by Truckers...My grandparents listened to Glenn Miller, Tommy Dorsey, and Frank Sinatra in the 70's and 80's--THAT music wasn't as old as the Beach Boys stuff is now.

Classic rock should be U2,REM, the Smiths, Ratt, Winger, whatever. Don't get me wrong, if I heard freebird, margaritaville, and brown sugar once a month I would CRANK it. But once a day just wears it out. Props to NME for giving the Smiths best album of all time, I don't agree with it but it wasn't ZOFO, Hotel California, or ruins.

Free country, listen to what you want but work in something new otherwise
my grandparents were officially hipper than you.
