Last Days...

They do not come out and say it is about Kurt Cobain, and gave the characters different names cause Courtney allow them to use "Nirvana" in the movie, but she is quick to sell out for other things like commercials.

Anyway... The movie is creepy, not a lot of dialog but a scary look at what the last few days could have been like for Kurt.

Crossroads - yes I know it had Ralph Macchio, but it was a really enjoyable movie with a few grains of truth to it. And the guitar playing was tremendous. I also liked the Buddy Holly Story and La Bamba.

That thing You Do- with Tom Hanks captured that whole 60s feel, and also makes you think about all those one hit wonders.Plus they wrote a great authentic bunch of tunes that fit that period perfect with Hanks co writing a lot of them.

Walk The Line a Johnny Cash Story is a good one.
The Rockumentory Some Kind Of Monster is an interesting film about Metallica and the trials the band goes through.
Broken Bridges starring Toby Keith is pretty good.

Tous Les Matins Du Monde (All The Mornings Of The World) will make you want to ditch your guitar and pick up the viol da gamba...

Vengo, Swing or any of Tony Gatlif's other films will send shivers down your spine... raw flamenco and gypsy jazz...

Carlos Saura's Flamenco... it's got Paco de Lucia in it. There can be no higher recommendation!

I know the chances that anybody is going to want to check these out are slim to none, but maybe they'll pop into your head the next time you're in the foreign section of the DVD store.

Unquestionably for me .......

IRISH TOUR '74 - RORY GALLAGHER :!: :!:

For those of you not familar with Rory Gallagher, you will get a good
and real look at one of the GREAT guitarists and more importantly decent
people. NO phony BS ego - tripping with Gallagher - it was all about the MUSIC. It's also interesting to see the goings on with concerts in Ireland in the early 70's ... primitive compared to today. Not to mention the demands and excesses of some bands. On top of that, you get a feel for how things were in Ireland a long time ago. A little side note - Robbie Robertson wanted Rory to appear in "The Last Waltz", but Rory wouldn't change his already booked concerts !!!! That would have been something to see and hear.
