I was rushing to get into the next jam at one of the little shows me and my friends were playing and I completely forgot to take my guitar from standard tuning to Drop D. Luckily, it was only a little outro jam with me and a drummer, so I just improvised and it turned out well. Not that anyone would know that a jam was out of key, but still, I take my sweet time now

Yeah, I started playing and though "$@!&, what am I supposed to do here?" But it dawned on me that I actually practiced it once before in Standard tuning, so I moved (most) notes up two frets to match the open E as compared to the open D on the low string. But yeah, at first, it didn't seem like it would go well.

I've seriously bombed at some gigs in the past....but nah, stage fright isn't a super big deal....

when it comes to guitar playing.

I'm not quite as confident about my vocals.

If someone does have stage fright?

2 recommendations:

1. Karaoke (which I am considering to help me, along with some vocal lessons.)

2. Open mic night. Those are actually pretty fun, and does it really matter if you bomb or not?

If you're there playing for free, who cares what they think?

I did a bunch of open mic nights when I was younger. It's a great place to try out new material. You're right, who cares if you suck there. I know sucked at a few of em.

Oh, I've scewed on stage something awful. I've had amps die on me, guitars die on me, (in fact...speaking of which, I've got to replace the selector switch on one of my strats...)....I've been paid to STOP playing.

(No, I'm not kidding about that, either.)

But you know something? It really wasn't stage fright. Usually once I'm at that point, I've already put the worst stuff through my head.

But no, I've never backed out of a gig because I was afraid of being in front of other people. I've just had really sucky moments just like most folk who've played in front of others.

It happens....
