I saw on another thread someone saying all they remember is the fear from their first gig. So I was wondering, are there any good stage fright stories out there? Freezing up mid song cause fear made you forget how to play it? Have you ever even had stage fright?

Myself, I've never had the problem. Speaking or playing in public has always been easy for me. I have this ability to just pretend I'm someone who's good at it.

I couldn't get past the fear of even playing in front of people to have a good stage fright story.

Me either.

I just don't feel comfortable playing in front of people. Not even close friends and family.

I've always been a good public speaker, so the aspect of being in front of people has not been an issue, but nerves have been. I remember my fretting hand used to shake at first because it was such a new thing for me and I was excited.

Every time I've been on stage, I've always been very nervous. But after a few minutes, I loosen up and everything becomes "normal" and relaxed.

No good stage freight stories but I would get nauseated from nervousness just before going on stage but when the music started I was fine. :)

I would rather play in front of a huge crowd than a really small group as I would be extremely nervous and would miss notes.

'Also a decent public speaker, as well as writer of stuff which goes public, but playing...even after chuch gig as bassist (99 times to date), it's still somewhat daunting.

And playing guitar solo for veritably anyone, still do not like to after decades. Go figure.

Although I can speak publicly without hesitation I'm like Chet I can't play in front of anybody with the possible exception of my 7 year old daughter she is totally non-judgmental.

I tend to be like that sometimes too. I also can sound really good when I'm playing just by myself but when I get infront of friends or my family I just can't do it. I'm getting more comforable playing infront of them though

I'm 14 and had my first REAL gig two weeks ago. And let me tell you, I was shaking like a leaf and almost puked. But once I started, It was fluid; it was awesome.
