I have some mystery speakers. They were installed in my Super Reverb before I acquired it (obviously not original). I've done a ton of searching on the web, and can't seem to find what these are.

Identifying numbers:
MH10C 200
1098246

I'm wondering if MH10C 200 is the same as MH1020 (supposedly used by Derek Trucks in his Super Reverb)?

Anyone have any idea about these? I don't even know if they were originally intended to be used in a car. :?

strings10927, Pyle driver 10" guitar speakers work just fine with the Fender Super Reverb. I had two cabinets made by R&R Cases back in the the mid 80s, one with Pyle drivers and the other with the two original Fender/ Jensens. Both cabinets sounded great the one with the Pyle drivers had more fullness sound-wise. A guitar player friend of mine still has the cab with the Pyle drivers, the other cab with the Fender/Jensens is off my radar lol.

Actually the plye driver speakers are most known as low cost car subwoofers and that is probably most of their sales. However they also make home and DJ speakers. The main difference would be as opposed to a car subwoofer that the parameters the ones used for a guitar cab if correct would be more or less full range free air aka a "loudspeaker" or "driver" vs a subwoofer which is designed for a sealed or properly vented enclosure and has a very narrow frequency range in the lower registers of around 20-200hz and totally drop off at around 2khz..... where a large musical instrument loudspeaker should have specs more like 100hz to 10Khz ish. However some do call all larger speakers "woofers" even if they are actually a full range driver such as used in guitar cabs.

Now I can't tell much by the numbers stamped on the basket as nothing comes up but by the ridges in the cone it is safe to assume they are indeed loudspeakers/musical instrument and not car subwoofers which generally use a different cone material then ridged paper. Plus if they were indeed car subs you would notice very low output at anything above bass frequencies. Plus I think the "M" on the pyle speaker part numbers means musical. Most of the car speakers start with a "P". I can assume the 10 means 10" but the rest of it is unknown. The "200" could mean 200 watts but that is most likely a peak spec and not rms. You might be able to call plye and they can identify exactly what they are and if they are the one Derick uses.

I did find this quoted from an ebay ad so I can't confirm but it might be a clue..."derek uses mh1020 this amp has mh10c200 same speaker with aluminum dome for warm tone and slight 'honk'. ala duane allmans jbl d120"

Nice find! Definitely a clue, thanks for that! Yeah I might just have to call the company to get confirmation.

You can but if they sound good to you the rest is kind of irrelevant. It does seem however they are certainly not the car subwoofers.
